Great pub with an impressive menu including stone baked pizzas, an acomodating landlord backed up by friendly staff, never mind the traveling I think I'll make it my local.
Nicely does it. Simple friendly pub. If you want to be part of the community in Hermitage there are 2 pubs. Many are dismissive of the White Horse, but its a friendly pub, albeit more suited to sports fans. And now has food 3 days a week and takeaways on other days. Gets my thumbs up...
Was practicing some bay parking with my girlfriend in the car park and was planning on going for a walk and returning for a pint and some food when the pub opened. But while we were parking the owner ran outside and effectively shouted at us till we left. Fair enough if he wanted us to park somewhere else before the pub opened, but instead he shouted at us while we parked, let us park and then shouted at us for parking. Definitely felt a bit ageist and who knows what other prejudices he may have had. Was very rude and unnecessary, and really hope he's not like that to other customers.
Recently moved house nearby and just had a family meal for 4. Special of King Prawns & Steak for £15 was incredible value and all the food was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. Lovely friendly staff, nice sunny garden and little playground for the kids. Dog friendly too and live sports in the spacious interior, so happy to have found a perfect local, we'll be back very soon!
Avoid this pub: sexist comments by bar staff and an unpleasant atmosphere.
What can I say. This pub restraunt in Thatcham was a stop over on the way to holiday with my three grandchildren.
We arrived around 13.30 and was greater very warmly. The food was very nice and the child burger and chips was as big as any I have seen in other places on the adult menu.
The pub has am outside play area and at the end of the meal the owner came and asked if the children could have a lolly which was a very nice touch.
If I was in the area again I would have no hesitation in using the White Horse again
We visited on Thursday for a business lunch and really enjoyed the food. Nice, freshly cooked, homemade dishes and really good portion sizes. Very good prices too. On Thursday, there is a choice of dishes for £10 each. Owner was pleasant and the place was clean and smartly decorated. I would recommend The White Horse and will visit again soon!
Called on the off-chance but so glad we did.
The landlord was very friendly and inviting.
He also does the cooking, and wow, what a meal. Really lovely food cooked to order,and very reasonably priced. Excellent NZ Sauvy B too, and so much cheaper than other places. Decent pint if Doombar as well.
Car parking easy.
