Great pub right one the river with two separate outside areas. One for dining and one for drinking. Good selection of beers, friendly staff and dig friendly.
We didn't eat , just popped in for a (3) quick pint, Brakspears Oxford gold ( Gorgeous) Bertie our border was made very welcome. We will be back soon to try the menu ????
Beautiful old pub, lots of quirky features and decorations. The pub is a stones throw from the river and has a lovely walled garden in the rear. Great selection of local beers and wines, didn't eat but the food that was being served looked and smelt amazing. The landlord and lady were very friendly and accommodating.
Would thoroughly recommend for a drink or a bite to eat if in the area
From the moment you step into The Anchor in Henley on Thames, you're transported into a world of warm hospitality and exceptional service. This charming pub, nestled in the heart of Henley, is a delightful retreat for both locals and visitors alike.
The Anchor's ambiance strikes the perfect balance between a traditional English pub and a cozy, inviting space. It's the kind of place where laughter fills the air, and every corner tells a story. The interior, with its classic decor, exudes a sense of history and warmth that makes you feel right at home.
But what truly sets The Anchor apart is its outstanding selection of beers. Each beer, carefully selected and perfectly served, is a testament to their commitment to quality. Whether you're a fan of classic ales or looking to explore something new and exciting, The Anchor has something for everyone.
The service at The Anchor is nothing short of exceptional. The staff go above and beyond to ensure your experience is memorable. Their knowledge of the beers on offer, combined with their friendly and attentive approach, makes every visit a pleasure.
Lovely pub just off the high street, provides a great alternative spot for an evening pint when you don't want to drink 'in town'.
We visited on a sunny day after lunch and sat in the garden for lunch, it was pretty empty.
The food was alright, decent for a pub, good portion of meat but could do with a few more vegetables.
The waiters didn't really come over for table service, we were left waiting to order food and to pay.
The garden itself was pretty cramped full of chairs and tables so it didn't feel like the nicest place to sit outside being a bit claustrophobic.
When other people chose to smoke, being in a smaller space meant it somewhat ruined the outdoors.
Decent Brakspears pub by the river. Beer and wine were good, as was the food. Problem getting in to the pub. There are three doors. One has a handle. Turn the handle and push the door. Or ring the bell by the handle like many customers did. It's the left most door facing the pub.
Beautiful pub, amazing staff. Despite it being slightly busy, we were seated and served food within 20 minutes. Will definitely visit again and am very happy with the new management.
