I travelled a 448 mile round trip from Southampton to see for my self what all the fuss was about!
I can definitely say it was worth every penny and the journey!
The Haddock and Chips, curry sauce, mushy peas and the doner meat are definitely the best I’ve ever had and I firmly believe this is the best chippy in the country!
The place was really busy yet highly efficient. The owner, Balwant, warmly greeted every customer and was so friendly. Amazing food and wonderful service. Will definately come back.

I am absolutely APPALLED! with this service. My boyfriend loves this chippy! Yet at 7pm last night, he was craving chips. He went to go order a bag of chips, no sauces, nothing. just PLAIN chips, He came home, ate them up, and next thing you know, hes stuck on the toilet, next thing you then know his bum was singing the national anthem loud and proud! I am very disgusted by this place and need to find out what caused him to need the toilet so bad! Never ordering again! I would rate this 0 stars if i could. Never coming back ever again!
Ordered cod and chips as a treat and both pieces of cod seemed like they had been cut in half. The fish itself was a very odd texture, not at all white and flakey as they used to serve. Chips were pretty tasteless, all in all a bit of an expensive disappointment that mostly ended up in the bin.
Had the most amazing haddock and chips tonight .thank you for making my birthday treat complete..the fish was so fresh and the portion of chips huge..Will be returning very soon .thank you again..delicious.
I've been coming to Barton to visit my in laws for the past decade and have always raved about how good this place was. The last visit totally changed my mind. The fish was completely different. Instead of big chunks of fish, it was fine mushy flakes which were completely Bland.
They still give a decent portion of chips, but I suspect they're now using a cheaper alternative to haddock & Cod so I'll give it a miss next time I'm over.
Came to Barton for work and stumbled upon market place fish & chips. Was greeted by Balwant the owner, very friendly and attentive, the food was amazingly priced and the food itself was the best chippy I’ve ever had which says a lot being from Cleethorpes and being renowned for its chip shops.
Will come back here every time I’m even close to the area.

Marvellous fish cooked in a lovely crisp batter. Generous portions. Great cheery service. Very clear guidance about how to be safely distanced in and around the shop during these pesky covid-19 times. I recommend them!
