Called in for a cheeky pint while out shopping yesterday. Great selection of real ales, I had the Elsie Mo - obviously well kept beer, tasted great. Also tried half a pint of strong cask stout called "Snowball" which was excellent. My wife isn't as refined as I am so she wanted a prosecco, which they also stock - bonus.
Got peckish while I was there and decided to try some of the Mexican street food. Really glad I did! I had the Chicken Pastor Tacos, which I ordered as "Spicy".
Order arrived - 3 good size tacos with the chicken filling and a garnish of guacamole and salsa. Absolutely delicious , glad I didn't have the extra spicy as they were more than hot enough for my taste, (and I do like spicy food), so take on the extra spicy at your own risk.
Overall:
Friendly, knowledgeable service in a nice old fashioned traditional pub. Very well kept ales and an excellent selection. Food was top notch, could have been a tad warmer (temperature wise), but soooo tasty I just kept on eating.
It's worth going just for the beers if you're a real ale fan, (and they have prosecco to keep everyone happy ). But the great mexican food is the icing on the cake, highly recommend you give it a try - we will definitely be back.
Lovely pub, great food and a great atmosphere. The young lad behind the bar was extremely helpful and even sorted us out with a taxi as we were struggling to book one. We will definitely return.
A super friendly and welcoming pub, with a great relaxed atmosphere. Loads of craft beers on offer and the Holy Moly mexican food is so good!! Definitely recommend the veggie burrito.
Ordered food and drinks for 8 people, once the barman could be bothered to serve us......chatting to his mates for 5 minutes before acknowledging us!
Was specific about certain ingredients for one of the meals......the meal csme out incorrect.
We were hit with a barrage of sarcasm and attitude.

Lovely beer selection the 7 percent one I had was so nice before the theatre I just had to return and stay till closing ????

Friendly staff, cracking pints of Verdant craft beer, delicious spicy quesadillas, Castle Rock reward points, what's not to love? Will be back next time we're in Newark!
