Very good food. Good value. Take out only.
The photo is Mei Fun beef, cooked to perfection. Seriously, the noodles aren't overcooked, the beef is tender, the spices are flavorful without being overbearing. The portion is generous: I usually have leftovers for lunch the next day!
Call ahead for a shorter wait. Try everything; nothing isn't delicious!
The steamed dumplings are the best in Rockford.
Food was good but I got the large shrimp, egg foo, young. I noticed that my first patty had shrimp in it but the other ones didn’t I thought all four patties supposed to have shrimp in it.The service was terrible. The guy taking orders have an attitude problem. He’s a little bit on the rude side. But other then that it was my first time eating from here and it was good Made me feel like I was in Chicago
I have been to many Chinese takeout. My favorite are the hot and sour soup and pork fried rice.
Wong Wong is the Chinese takeout that you can rely on. They are fast. And, they only take cash.
Granted, there are some foods on the menu that could rubs you the wrong way. But, the popular foods, including the Won Ton soup, you can definitely appreciate.
Between the good chinese restaurant, Wong Wong makes the best hot and soup. They don't hold back with the vegetable and probably used beef broth. The chicken broth would have made the flavor lighter tasting. But, for the like of eating good food, the beef broth hvae a huge fusion impact with the vegetables.
I recommend to order the:
Won Ton soup
Hot and soup soup
Schzwan(?)
pork fried rice
Remember, as soon as you place the order over the phone, you have 14-15 minutes to show up. So, if you are in like the Broadway area in Rockford, they would have it ready as soon as you arrive.
However, I don't recommend Wong Wong as a place to sit down for like a date. It is better to eat it at home or workplace.
My mom started ordering Wong Wong on the 1990s and I have been hooked ever since. Their combination fried rice and the chicken fried rice are perfectly prepared.
I was refused for taking my order because I asked was this authentic Chinese im i review eat shop at a lot of places. He was upset saying I asked a odd question!!! Happy wok is not authentic Chinese food they don’t even know what Chinese chicken is??? But yes I must say he refused my order because I asked the question to have 4 stars is disappointing yet they refused my order asking how the rice is made I don’t like peas n carrots in my rice authentic Chinese food is not like that but ok it was good not to spend my money there they treat people like trash
Really good Chinese food all around, I’d say one of the better if not best Chinese restaurants I’ve had in Rockford.
Wong Wong's can be good some days and bad on others. The Shrimp Fried Rice and Egg Foo Young is usually pretty good,
The Shrimp Kow, Singapore Noodles, and Egg Drop Soup are also regular favorites.
But as I mentioned, sometimes they're hit or miss. It's comes down to who is cooking that day. When they're horrible cook is back there, the food is going to be gross no matter what you order.
I wish we had a way of knowing when that bad cook is there, then we'd know not to order that day.
When it's good, it's good, though.
The service is simply, everything will be ready in 15 minutes, cash only, take your money, pass you your food and change. Don't expect them to smile at you or be nice to you.
