We came in for a late dinner at 11.15 pm on a Saturday night. The place is lively .. with so many patrons dining in.
The chicken tomato noodle soup and chips with black salsa are complimentary. And both taste good. The Black Salsa was amazing!
We ordered a
spinach cheese tamale -
green chicken tamale - was not as spicy as I expected.
Veggie nopale taco
Potato rajas taco - nice and spicy!
Goat Birria taco - delicious
Veggie sope
Their red table sauce is spicy and has a good kick to it.
Great food. Good prices. Dinner for 2 of us came to just 25$ . It's been a while that I visited a restaurant and came out fully satisfied. Trapasada hit the note. I look forward to my next visit.
Chips and soup free for dining in and that black sauce is amazing. I had the tripe, pastor and lengua and they were all amazing. My friends had other food that was also good. I really love this restaurant and will try to come back as often as possible
It was a good place before, their tacos were good. It’s not the case now. Their tacos no longer have the house seasoning, juicy, and are over loaded with onions. Sad to say I won’t be coming back. And they are pricey.
I was excited to try the famous black salsa as it had been recommended several times by others in the neighborhood. It was smoky and really good! The second time we went, it did seem a little spicier. Their tacos are really great! Margarita and Michelada were good too! They bring soup with your lunch or dinner as well, which is a nice touch and the service is good.
Step into Traspasada Restaurant, a hidden gem tucked away in the Avondale neighborhood, and discover a haven where every meal transforms into a jubilant celebration. The ambiance is an irresistible blend of cozy comfort and vibrant energy, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience. I couldn't resist answering the tempting call of their luscious Jamaica, a velvety elixir that orchestrates a delightful harmony of spices, teasing the palate for the flavors yet to unfold. The true stars of this culinary show? The tacos. Both the asada and cabeza varieties were an explosion of flavor! These four tacos, juicy and bursting with tantalizing tastes, proved to be a culinary masterpiece. The asada was a delightful balance of tenderness and with its tender balance and kissed-by-flames char, while the cabeza offered a luxurious, melt-in-your-mouth journey. Freshly made tortillas cradled these savory delights, making each bite a comforting experience of savory goodness! Traspasada isn't just a restaurant; it's an odyssey, a destination inviting both locals and wanderers. For anyone seeking genuine, mouth watering Mexican cuisine within an embrace of welcoming and vibrant vibes, it's an experience worth savoring. And count me in for a return trip. It's absolutely worth it!
Great food for the price! I enjoyed the black salsa and soup that come with your meal. The carne asada and al pastor tacos and the guava margarita were all good.
I used to come here once in while because I loved their tripa tacos, even though they are pricey.
Today will be my last day coming, I asked for extra cilantro and onions, and barely had any. I also noticed they changed their tortillas for smaller ones; salsa had no flavor and the tripa was bland and soggy. ????
They charge for EVERYTHING, and don’t even try to ask for extra salsa if you don’t want to pay like $3 for each little container.
The food they have is the best Mexican Food place in town. It's the REAL food ... (better tortillas, bigger portions,) And food comes out fast. It has a large dining area too. There's another location on N Ashland Ave too. Three blocks from Wrigley Field! Their prices are good you can’t complain with how big each serving is. I tried their flad which is good too it’s like a pie. I had their tacos which are delicious!!! Definitely going back!
