This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is casual Mexican and the food is delicious. I come here often to bring my mom and we enjoy the food and the hand made tortillas.
Delicious!! The one and only complaint is that the chilaquiles where a little too crispy for my taste, but over all good food!
Small business, tortillas were good, first time buying at this place. The menudo was okay, the pieces need to be smaller, was a little over cooked. The birria was great, I did like the birria and agua de piña. I ordered over the phone and was prepared on time.
Very good caldo de res with handmade tortillas. They have Mexican coke in glass bottle. Friendly customer service. Good prices. Restaurant has good amount of seating. The reason why I gave this restaurant four stars is that when you arrive you don't know if you have to order at the register or just take a seat. Having a sign that says please sit anywhere would be helpful. Also, the restroom needs a total makeover. We had to ask for soap and there were no paper towels in the restroom to dry our hands. Besides that it's a cute place to have traditional mexican food. I would return.
Worst masa I have had ever. we wanted only 2 they sold in 6 LB bags so we said sure and since they didn't measure we went ahead but 8 lbs worth of basically salt. That's all we tasted was salt in the masa and they use way too much lard. Go to Carillos instead or LA Tolteca in Azusa.
Well, today I had the most disappointing tamale of my life. After looking for this darn place for half an hour because I was going up and down the block so, I decided to call them and just check. To my surprise after I asked if they had changed the name and of course they said yes. Then I said to them, then why haven’t you changed it online because it still reads Talpense Tortilleria. It is now called Saborcitos. However, I do not recommend the tamales at all. They are so dry and without any flavor what so ever, plus the masa was so hard it was sad. Do not ever go there because the service is lousy the girl who helped me had an attitude on her, I thought maybe she’s working for free or donating her time. I will go to another place that I heard that they have marvelous tamales on San Fernando Mission Road. I will never buy anything from this place again. I do not recommend it at all, it was lucky that I gave them a one star. Can you believe I paid 28.00 for this garbage…I want my money back.
Disillusioned because it was a great place some years ago…
1st Time here and I Truly recommend this Place.. Staff was Great and the Food was Also... If you are ever in the area and want some traditional Mexican food this is the place.. Not to mention the Fresh Handmade Tortillas and Traditional Mexican Coffee.. We were all truly satisfied with this Meal.
I went on a weekend day, around 4 ish it was a lil busy at times, the carne en chile rojo was not that great, I originally wanted costillas de puerco en salsa verde they were out ugh!! So I settled 4 the other dish which i regret it ,beef n red sauce don't go together!! Server was great ,we sat as soon as we walked in n she brought tortillas & salsa!! Will go back but won't order that dish again. The tortillas hechas a mano great as always. Menudo is delicious also the caldo d res it's my favorite go to on cold weather n cures your sniffles n common cold. Mom n pops flavor mexican lil place.
