Best KPortal Reviews

Third time I've tried, and this is the worst. I've got a sprained knee, so didn't need to walk more than necessary. Thought maybe they should have said as I entered the door that they had nothing to serve on a Sat at 8 pm except pulled pork. No ribs, no chicken, no brisket.
Instead, they shuffled us to a table, seated us, took the drink order. Appetizer ...she said oh, he makes them all by hand. I'm a southern girl who can rock some fried green tomatoes. Look at pic and tell me that cornmeal breading on one and tempura batter on the others looks like handmade to you. And they flipped the burnt parts so we wouldn't see. Look one more time ..would you pay $8+ for it?
Now for the entree ...this is where they tell you that they have nothing but pulled pork. That was done intentionally to get you in, seated, and served at least drinks b4 they tell you the truth, just hoping that you'll feel more committed to buying the only option. We listened while they did the exact same to the only other table seated on a busy Sat night.
So we refused everything except the drink we were tricked into.
There were a few recent negative reviews, but we were really craving BBQ after a long day of hiking, so we decided to give Wolf’s a shot. Thank Heavens we did! We went with our two young boys on a Saturday night. It was busy, but not packed. The servers were great - very attentive and sweet. The atmosphere was good, good country music playing. Our food was AMAZING. I was worried about portion sizes because of other reviews, but we were given so much food we had to get a box to come home. (And the prices were great for what we received.)
I had the pulled pork meat platter and wow - so much flavor and so much pork. I eat a lot of protein and couldn't finish it. The Mac and cheese and baked beans were great too. My husband got the Philly brisket and it was huge - he loved it. He got hush puppies on the side and they were much better than ones he’s had before. My son got a grilled cheese and fries and ate all of it with zero complaints. We ordered beers & had a frosted mug with them. We took home a serving of homemade banana pudding and WOW - so good. ????
We would come back here. It would be a favorite for us if we were local. Just wanted to give a positive review as we were very satisfied with it all! We are food snobs used to all of the options in Baltimore, and this is much better than our BBQ options at home.
Amazing!! We got the T Burger with Bacon cheese fries and naked wings! Food was fresh, hot and delicious. The staff was great as well. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back.
Y'all would get run out of Texas for serving this and daring to say "Texas barbecue without the 20 hour drive"!
Where to start...?
The brisket...all you could taste was smoke, but what about the herbs and spices that lend it that tangy flavor WITHOUT barbecue sauce? And for a $20 dollar+ meal why so stingy? Two lonely slices of brisket? And you didn't even bother to slice the fat cap off before serving? What about presentation?
The chicken...was the exact same. All smoke and no real flavor. The sides...those were on point...for the most part!
They were the stars of the show here...which defeats the purpose of them being called "sides".
The onion rings were crunchy and delicious, the hush puppies were crunchy on the outside without being overdone yet fully cooked on the inside, the fries were cooked to golden perfection...but the baked beans SMH were more of a can of pork n beans than "baked beans".
The atmosphere was..."ok". Nothing to write home (to Abilene, Texas) about.
The service...well that was as lackluster as the brisket and chicken. The waitress came to our table twice. Out of necessity. Once to take our order and once to deliver our order.
From now on if I want brisket...I'll save myself the drive and the "experience" and just make it myself. (I know how to season and marinade my meat to perfection.)
The food was mostly just good. The others comments about the sauces being watery are correct, but they still tasted great with the pork and brisket platters. The mac and cheese wasn’t very mediocre, and the side of chips was just a bag of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and they gave me a cold glass with my beer!
Most of the food was great as far as taste and quality. I personally loved the wings and fried pickles. The Mac n cheese was awful… but one thing isn’t something worth writing off the place. I am sadly disappointed by the service. They have one woman working the floor and the bar and she simply could not keep up. I can’t say that I blame her entirely, but it caused the service to be simply sloppy. I saw my food sitting in the window for at least ten minutes before receiving it, and we had to find our own to-go box because we couldn’t get her attention. I think if there’s improvement in efficiency and professionalism of service, this could be a great spot.
We popped in here upon our arrival into Virginia. The brisket was good and moist, and the sweet sauce was on point. I enjoyed almost everything except the greens. I am not a fan of vinegar in my greens. Overall service and food was good. If we ever return, we will definitely come back for the barbecue.
First time here. Hamburgers and fries were excellent. Service excellent. Finally, Ruckersville is getting more great restaurants.
