Staff were very friendly and the food was great. The Swan burger tasted amazing with big bits of gherkins/cornichons which I love. The only problem is that it was a bit pricey although they match the prices of most places.
I have given this place one star as you can’t give 0. This place is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. i would not recommend this place to anyone who has low patience. We came in, ordered food AND drinks then ended up having to wait an HOUR and a half for macaroni cheese, a child’s portion of nuggets and a dinner. THREE PEOPLE had came in, ordered, and eaten before we had even hit the 40 minute waiting mark. The staff service was absolutely appalling, as we complained several times and no one listened. Once asked for the final time for our food, (they even knew how long we had waited and that we had a toddler who was getting aggravated) they told us it would be out in 5 minutes, surprise surprise, it took way longer and after 10 more minutes we demanded a refund. They used an excuse of a “new worker” but used the name of the man who was working at the bar. I am absolutely fuming with the whole place and staff. So disappointing. I would NOT recommend to my worst enemy. DO NOT GO HERE
Very friendly staff, good beers, pool table &darts, games, welcoming atmosphere, good music, lovely juke box. Box ciders, with ice offered on the side. Food is great, arrived promptly, well cooked and delicious. We will definitely come back!
Staff are excellent, service is exceptional, and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. They have a wide range of food and beverages. They accept most card, cash, and cards. The pool table is free and I would highly recommend them when you visit, you won't be disappointed and will return the next day.
The Scottish bar man is absolutely disgusting. Completely ruined our family trip in Swanage. He had very personal views about how bad the NHS was, considering my family are all hardworking members of the NHS. He made a comment about chemotherapy not working, considering my sister with cancer would not have survived without it. Avoid this place at all costs.
The ciders we ordered were poured from cardboard boxes that were stacked on top of the bar. The drinks had no carbonation and also weren't cold, how could they? The tables were sticky although there was not much going on. Avoid.
Pub has limited ales on (probably because of it being early January). Drinks seemed expensive compared to other nearby pubs. The Pigs in blankets were tasty!
Went to the pub to eat as on a day trip looked like a friendly pub from outside.
Yes I know it was busy as folk dancing festival, but it wasn't rammed, a few people waiting at the bar to be served, 3 bar staff on so I thought the wait wouldn't be long.
As iam disabled and on a stick and so was my companion,I found us a seat sat her down went to the bar to get served I had to lean against a post as standing for a while hurts, I don't know if he didn't see my stick thought I was pushing in but he served 3 people looked me in the eye and went and served over the other side of the bar ! I was speechless, he had dark hair black white checked shirt. I lady eventually served me wasn't cheap but hey.
The whistling lady as that is what she done most of the time we were there got my drinks not thank you nothing ! I had a tray table up 2 steps she could see I was on a stick never offered help so I had to struggle and do 2 trips, I was livid but having paid for the drinks we had them but I refused to order food as they were plain to rude.
I know we were only holiday makers not regulars, but running a pub even in the most stressful times , you can be polite if not happy, I should know I run a pub !
So if you want a warm friendly pub and you are a visitor this pub isn't for you ! I am going back to Swanage in December I will never go in this pub again !
