I ordered two cakes through The Vanilla Bird Cake Company which I'd found on a google search. I discussed with Helen my ideas for both the cakes and Helen was very helpful explaining how she would achieve certain aspects of the designs and taking her time to go through all the flavours and options available and adding professional suggestions and advice. Her communication was fantastic throughout and the transactions easy. There was no need for any doubts as both cakes were absolutely stunning!! They looked beautiful and received several compliments. We had a rainbow sponge which I've never seen layers with so much colour and delicious taste! This was a huge hit with the children. The chocolate layer and red velvet layer were also delicious but I think my favourite has to be the Victoria sponge - it was just perfect. Helen delivered both cakes and helped me set them up.
I honestly couldn't recommend her enough and will definitely be a returning customer.

Helen's communication from the beginning of the discussion till the day the cake was delivered beautifully was just a very high quality customer service. She drafted me designs taking care of every little detail and helping me to make the final decision which was superbly transformed into this amazingly beautiful and delicious cake. My son loved it even though he doesn't like cakes at all. The cake was designed with his favourite things on it and it immediately caught his attention and nothing could have been worth the look he had when he saw it on his birthday. The professionalism from Helen and the delicious cake made the day more special. Looking forward to more bakes from her ????
The cake I ordered was beautiful and my mum absolutely loved it! She didn’t want to cut into it because it just looks so amazing! Helen was lovely and really responsive, answered messages super quickly and made sure to keep in contact to let me know how the cake was going! Thank you Helen! Helen was so helpful in making a surprise cake for my dad’s birthday in May. From our first phone call, she was so helpful and was excited by the idea of making dad’s cake - a Madeira sponge with white and milk chocolate ganache, dark chocolate drizzle, topped with all of his favourites biscuits on the top. Yummy!
Very reasonably priced, especially as I called her a month before. His birthday was on my wedding day, so we collected it the day before, beautifully boxed so it could travel down to Surrey. His face was a delight when we all sang him Happy Birthday during the speeches and out came the cake with a sparkler in the middle!
I cannot recommend Helen enough, wonderful friendly service and a bespoke creation of a cake of your choice. The cake was a work of art and thoroughly enjoyed by dad and our guests! Thank you so much :-)

I had my wedding on 5th June 2021 and chose Helen to create the cake of my dreams. Helen seemed so enthusiastic about creating the cake as it was something new to her (it was a silver birch style cake) and she kept me updated every step of the way. She even went out her way to get the flowers to decorate the cake in order to bring it all together. The cake itself looked absolutely incredible! It looked so good everyone thought it was part of the decor. The flavour of the cake was incredible, such beautiful light sponge with the perfect hit of flavour - we were so happy with everything! I would 100% recommend Helen and would use her for any future cakes for birthdays/celebrations :)

Helen has made a perfect Simba Cake for our son’s 5th birthday party. It was identical to the picture I’ve sent her and an absolute masterpiece when it arrived. Professional, responsive, local to SE London -will be ordering again and highly recommend to those who are after a perfect cake.
