Working away and after a rather hard week me and my work colleague fancied a pint to take the edge off. We called at the rose and crown and to our surprise it managed to make the week worse, not only did the pub smell of dusty old dogs the minute sip of Stella I drank tasted like vinegar. I began to think I’d entered hell, but then I realised even hell wouldn’t smell as bad as this.
Good value pub, barman that served me was friendly and welcoming. They have two parts to the pub and although the decor is quite shabby it was still comfortable. There is a drinking area outside and in terms of drink they have a decent selection of ciders.
Nice pub friendly staff
Such a lovely atmosphere. Proper locals pub but they don't leave you feeling left out. Spark up a conversation with anyone and they will turn into a worthy apponent on the pool table. Large selection of drinks and at a decent price too.
Good pub with a space outside for dancing. Great during the folk festival.
Lovely staff members who were very welcoming and chatty. The beer was cold and glasses were clean. Friendly lil doggy switch greeted me with plenty of enthusiasm. Will return for another stella!
Great to sit outside with friends, however inside is a totally different story. Really run down, filthy inside. Ladies toilets is like a building site. Tools left all round the side of the loo. Door sticks, have to shout for help for somebody to let you out.
A long long time ago, in a galaxy much similar to ours this pub existed and was the centre of masss crowds and revellers. But sadly nowadays our version of it broken due to a government decision which had in my opinion an opposite effect for what the government wanted to happen. But they do sell Extra cold Guinness!
