I attended one of the soft openings so i will have to go again after they work out their flow. but the atmosphere is perfect for day drinking, i spent over $40 for 3 tacos and 2 drinks. Took around 45 min to get my tacos, but the drinks came quickly. I enjoyed all my tacos when they did arrive. This place gives me hope for the area as it is an improvement on an empty lot. drinks were good an the food was good. Servers probably need a little more training, and once they figure out the kitchen, I have no doubt this will be a 5-star restaurant. Wish the owners the best of luck, recommend bringing a jacket as its chilly outside
I finally got to go and eat at The Firefly in downtown St Marys and It did not disappoint it was amazing.
There are so many positive things and very few negative things about this resturant.
Pros: Food came out Hot ???? everything was delicious loaded with flavor and came out fast even when it was super busy. Me and my friends a group of 6 people total got seated fast. We had the best Server her name was Abigail I highly recommend asking for her to be your server If you go. She was so patient and kind and caring and answered all of mine and my friends questions about the menu and gave great suggestions on what he favorite things there are to eat. I ordered the Cali-Tito Burritos ???? it was so amazing. Great taste packed with a lot of flavor that worked well together. A heads up to anyone that gets it is a little spicy I recommend getting the Guajillo Sauce on the side. I also got a Barria tacos tasted amazing great consome sauce. The only negative thing was came out really soggy which i have never had a soggy barria taco before but because of that made it hard to eat because it was falling apart really easy. Some of my friends got other tacos , rice bowl and Quesadilla they all said every tasted delicious. They also had live music and cornhole so the atmosphere was amazing.
Negative: I hate saying Negative things about places but if they don't hear feedback things can't change and make them better. The worst thing about this place which is out of their control was the bugs and flies. Me and my friends had to swat our food all night while trying to enjoy eating which made that really annoying. I asked for a bug candle and was told they have only a few of so maybe they can get more for everytable there to get rid of the bugs and flies entirely. Parking was so bad and confusing. I had no clue where to park when I got there. All the parking infront was full so I had to drive down and do a u turn and park at the elementary school. Found out after dinner they had parking in the back on the gravel but there was no signs saying this. The bathrooms were very old and kinda dirty. They only had a 1 person bathroom so the wait was long to go to the bathroom.
Overall I highly recommend this place I can't wait to go back and try more menu items. But my last comment is about the prices. Honestly I first saw the price and I thought it was crazy before I went. But now after going the prices are fair. They aren't cutting corners and giving you below par food. All the food is high quality food that is also local like the shrimp and that's not cheap. So comparing them to your other favorite Mexican resturant in town isn't fair to them. So compare them to your other favorite restaurants in town they are fairly priced. I know I would love to get free chips and salsa when I go out and eat somewhere but I know they just opened up and have a full stagg and bills to pay and I know they are in downtown St Marys which is not cheap to have a restaurant out there. So I highly recommend going and supporting Dan Black and the rest of his staff. He is a good guy asked me how everything was and I didn't get to talk to him much but I hope he sees this and know that me and all my friends and co workers from Chick fil a came out and ate last night and we had an amazing time and we loved our food we will be back again soon. Also if Abigail G I believe that works there could get a raise or promotion she was seriously one of the best servers I have had in the last couple of years she is the best she should be a manager if she isn't already.
Fantastic tacos. The Osborne, Light my Fire and Hawker were amazing. The slaw on the Light my Fire was lights out. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. Highly recommended. Our waitress, Carly, was fantastic and Weston stopped by to check. Super friendly, professional and nice to chat with.
I really wanted to give 5 stars but I just can’t. I will update my review after another visit because I am an understanding person and do recognize that this establishment is still brand new. The set up of this restaurant is very nice however it’s not the best design for our area due to the bugs. Seating options are outside or an open balcony. We chose the open balcony and as the sun started to set, the bugs got worse. All 4 of our cups of water ended up with gnats in them. I will say, the outdoor tables had candles lit so that may assist with keeping the bugs away. Our server was extremely nice, but he was a bit on the slow side which seems to be a common trend amongst other reviews. The food was very good. I have no complaints there. My wife and one of our friends had the Chorizo and Potato Stacked Tostadas (very good), our other friend had 3 tacos, and I had 4 tacos (The Buzz, Fire Cracker, Light-My-Fire, and Bronco). They were all so good, especially the Light-My-Fire. I know the quality of restaurants this owner operates and I’m confident that with time, the attentiveness of staff will get ironed out and that will push my review to 5 stars as I recognize the fact that we are in SE GA and the bugs are inevitable. I recommend checking this place out and I’ll be back in a few months!
Definitely a great addition to St. Mary’s! Enjoyed all the unique tacos and the live music playing. A little on the pricey side, but worth it for the quality and atmosphere. Staff was vigilant on cleanliness which was an extra plus.
The atmosphere was very nice and something that we needed here for sure! I had a blackberry drink as well as a peach Bellini and those were very good too! I’d definitely come back to drink with friends. However we mainly came here for the food. I had gotten the chorizo and potato tostadas to go and by my mistake I didn’t see it had refried beans which I can’t have and they very nicely made me another without. However when we got home I was disappointed to find it was literally drowning in grease ???? what I could get out of the puddles that wasn’t already soaked was pretty good, lacking queso in my opinion as well. I salvaged as much as I could with the napkins but there was literally just too much I couldn’t get it all.
Food is fresh and very flavorful. We ate a lot of food but didn’t feel over-full! Nice outside dining. Live music. Corn hole. Highly recommend for young and old.
