As soon as me and my family came in we asked for tap water, the whole time it didn’t come. We ordered fries and they ended up being cold. We ordered milkshakes and they ended up tasting like water. Service is disappointing, however when me and my family came to eat at this diner 2 years ago we had a good experience, shows that a lot can change in 2 years.
Last night we visited the diner and we definitely won’t be visiting again.
Firstly, when I was ordering at the bar, I ordered our 2 courses (on the dine around plan) and was told we couldn’t have the pudding we wanted (that’s fine) but I then said please let me go check then if they all want starters instead of the different puddings (we could only choose 3 options on dine around).
I returned to the bar a minute later to be ignored and our mains had already come out. They were dry, cold and inedible. The beef chilli on the burger was freezing cold whilst the bacon was cremated.
Our puddings then came out; they were a little better. Our uneaten food plates were still sat on our table and when asked if our main food was okay (after eating pudding), I told them it was cold. Nothing else was done about this.
Staff were rude and unhelpful. Expect the lovely lady who greeted us as we came in and helped me carry a high chair.
Definitely won’t return here again. The other restaurants at Butlins are a lot better, by far.
Love butlins, me and my partner done many of the adult weekends.
This is our first family break and decided to try the diner as had variety for all family.
I had the £18.50 chicken and ribs, I could see straight away see how this was made, first of all the small rack of ribs is 1/4 of Aldi full rack for £3 ( microwaved) the chicken is like a farmfoods bagged frozen pieces sh*t watery and salty. 3 southern fried chicken were tasteless probs from farm foods. Filled the plate with chips ( cheap as chips) smidgen of coleslaw I thought was for my toddler.
Macaroni cheese bites for toddler awful, battered cylinders with pieces of macaroni inside this turns up piping red hot in the middle so if your happy waiting 20 mins for this to cool down before letting your child eat it AVOID!
Beans looked like been sat there all day,
Other child, tinned processed hotdog with stale bun.
Other adult meal chicken and chips was literally a plate full of chips with a small piece of chicken (the same as previous chicken I described) that would of only been enough for a toddler.
For food . Would of gave another half star if had the choice of being able to exchange chips for diff potatoe product ie jacket potato/mash - said this wasn’t possible
For me I’m not one for leaving reviews but this is a must for any family’s considering this restaurant!
We ate here during our stay at the resort because other restaurants were full. We regret spending our time and money in this diner. We ordered the vegan burger which was literally just a burger patty with the bun and some cheese. That's it. It cost £12. I ordered the Cobb salad as a main which i thought would be big enough to be considered as a main. It was £10+. We also ordered a kid's meal. All this arrived after 30 minutes because we were tracking it. My salad was literally a bunch of leaves and some chopped tomatoes, cucumbers with lemon dressing. Ingredients won't even reach £5. It's as expensive as salads in London but it's not justifiably delicious. It's overpriced for the size and I was appalled and told the server. He just told the chef but came back to say that's the serving size and he gave me some more "salad" which was made of wilted vegetables. See photo. I think it was stale side salad. Literally inedible. No other effort of trying to correct it. If it weren't for the kids needing to go to bed soon and us being tired, we would've gone and eaten somewhere but the other restaurants were all full up. NOT WORTH THE TIME AND MONEY.
The food was a bit cold but was very nice would recommend. Definitely worth it and hope I come here again. The service was very good polite and helpful. It was very good but they do need to change their playlist very strange songs to listen to at a American style dinner.
Overall very tasty and good service.
Absolutely poor, We ordered has a group of 8 only 3 people got there food and we had to wait another 20-25 mins for others food to come. Then food was freezing when it did come. Had to send 3 different pieces of food back twice.
As this is a captive audience themed restaurant, my expectations were already low. But The Diner managed to be even worse.
The food came out suspiciously quickly. Kids refused to eat most of it and with good reason. Everything was lukewarm and sweaty from being reheated in a microwave, I suspect.
Menus and condiments were missing from the table and the ‘waiter’ was visibly nervous when he had to ask “how is everything?”.
Decor is nice enough but the food is overpriced, over-hyped and deeply disappointing to the point of nausea. Avoid.
We used to visit this place each stay for a snack occasionally, and our children would visit for a milkshake on their own. The new rule of no unaccompanied under-18s means there’s not really a point of us coming as both us and our children would rather them go on their own, however this is no longer possible.
We thought we’d just go with our children, and the service was very slow despite the restaurant being empty, it took 15 minutes after ordering for staff to visit the table and explain that they’ve ran out of ingredients for something we ordered.
We were also waiting a very long time to be seated, so we entered the restaurant and were quite rudely told by staff that we shouldn’t have done this.
