The cornish Inn is run by small family and they are great hosts. The car park at the back is large one and they have small one at front. The Inn has cosy wood burner, comfortable chairs to relax and sit in while you enjoy your drink. It also has a pool table, Duke box with large variety of music and a large TV screen and WiFi.|Outside at the back you have a patio with table and chairs and soon to have a new patio heater.| On special days you can also enjoy burger and chips which is great value for money. Definitely would recommend a visit.|
A lovely family run B&B. Great breakfast options with excellent service. Rooms are in good condition with TVs and tea and coffee facilities. Nice to have the option to sit in the pub on an evening after a long day exploring. Great local drinks and such friendly bar staff. Fantastic location for walks, visiting local towns or a trip to the coast for a day. ||Great to find a pub with character and will be visiting again soon. Thanks for having us!
Stayed here at the weekend and was so lovely ||The owner greeted us with a smile and showed us to our rooms. The building is a 17th Century building. So quirky. Was shocked that such an old building would have better running hot water than my own house. ||We had a few drinks then retired to bed. ||In the morning we had a choice of pastries, cereal or a cooked breakfast. We chose a cooked breakfast both mornings which was very yummy. Could tell the meat was local. ||We also had dinner at the pub. I had Pie, mash and veggies and my hubby had Scampi which went down a treat. Followed by a yummy sticky toffee pudding and custard ||The locals were friendly. We had things to do in Tavistock and Plymouth so was lovely to come back to and chill
Comfortable bed, a great breakfast (scrambled egg was the best I’ve tasted!), and the owners were pleasant. The son, who served us breakfast, was particularly attentive and the dining room, in contrast to the rest of the pub, was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The evening bar meal was mediocre. On the whole, the place was tired looking and the carpets were dirty and faded. There was a strong smell of chips on entering the premises, which was off putting. Would I stay here again? In a word “No”.
My fiancé, his daughter and myself booked to stay here for a couple of nights after reading all the glowing reviews. We arrived on the Friday evening, managed to park out the front (ample parking to rear too), and went into what was a lively pub. There was a darts tournament going on. The owner acknowledged us straight away. We stayed in the bar for a couple of drinks then retired to our room, a family room with a double and single bed, en suite. The room was comfortable enough, a little cold maybe but the temperature had dropped. Plenty of storage, tv, table and chairs, hairdryer, coffee and tea making facilities. The bed was very comfy. Unfortunately the locals were still going in and out of the bar and every single time the bar door would bang shut so took a while to get to sleep. We were on the second floor. The next morning we woke up to the strong smell of cigarettes in our room (and also the hallways when we left) which was not pleasant for any of us, we did consider not staying the second night. It proved difficult to get the shower at a comfortable temperature. We didn’t stay for breakfast. The next evening we came back to the bar after a day out, was welcomed again by the owner who is such a lovely chap. We stayed for a couple of drinks but being a Saturday afternoon/early evening the bar was very loud and there was a lot of swearing going on, which wasn’t suitable for my fiancé’s daughter. We were also aware of people smoking cannabis in the porch way bar entrance, the smell was very strong. We decided to go back out and went to a local pub down within walking distance down the road. The Inn does serve food and the menu had a great choice but we wouldn’t have felt comfortable eating in the bar. All in all, we were a little disappointed with the Inn but we only paid £50/night and couldn’t fault the owners at all, they are both very friendly and welcoming and always seemed to take a personal interest in us. We understand it was a weekend and a pub so maybe we’ll consider other types of accommodations in the future.
great atmosphere and service, good beer and undergoing renovations well worth a stop, new landlord and son , friendly locals , beer garden , pool table , big screen sports, large open fire and a hilarious parrot to boot ????????????
My daughter and I have just returned from a weekend stay in Cornwall staying at the Cornish Inn. The owners are lovely and welcoming. The room was great, very clean and tidy with towels, small selection of toiletries and tea and coffee facilities in the room. We were able to add meals, which looked reasonable but did not try as out and about all day. Situated in a beautiful part of Cornwall. Slight niggle was one of the exterior doors that other visitors seemed to allow to slam, but that was nothing to do with owners. Thank you for a lovely stay
Comfortable and clean family run pub, with a spacious room. The care and attention from Steve and Sue was second to none, from a great gluten free menu, to cooking me a pie to eat cold on the train home. Worth a night in the bar to talk to the brilliant locals ("Oh, I'm not from round here, I'm from Calstock [2 miles away])!
