Stopped off between Devon and Kent, bought some lovely fresh cream donuts, sausage rolls, iced fingers, croissants and jam donuts. Best cakes we've eaten in a very long while. Would definitely recommend and will stop off again if in the area
Lovely lovely ladies who run this bakery.
We have recently moved to the area and have been along twice. The cakes are delicious and my partner really liked the sourdough loaf. Always welcoming and friendly and really pleased to see how busy they are even with all the road works outside.
Well worth the visit and a really great price for all their products!
I am an Expat now living in California. I come home to beautiful England every year to see my family. My annual visit down to my Godparents in Somerset is always a highlight due to one thing...my stop @ The Bakery on the A303! My Mum and I call in for tea cakes, granary bread and my all-time favourite, flapjack! My 90+ years old Aunt & Uncle love them just as much as I. The bread is how I imagine all bread in heaven to be, simply delectable. I have travelled the world and there is no comparison.
We also stop in on the way back up and load the car with goodies for the whole family. My two nieces (age 8 &10) agree with me on the bread. The day I left, they actually sent a pic of them eating it - one with marmite, one with butter, and sent it to me whilst I was in the air. ;0). I think they thought if there's anything that will get me back to England, it would be that bread.
Thank you for everything you do. I hope to visit for the next forty years. Your bakery is a national treasure.
Called in on the way back from Devon
Very frendly lady served us.
Amazing range of food available.
Bought a lardy cake and loaf
Both tasted fabulous when we ate them, both very fresh
Sadly live over 100 miles from the bakery so can't pop down very easily.
Hope they can keep going whilst the village flooding, tree chopping down
Slow going road makers get the 303 finished
Proper nice sausage rolls, nice and friendly ladies. Worth the detour off the A303
The staff in the bakery are always friendly and polite. They remember repeat customers, even irregular customers like us.
The bread and cakes really good quality and represent value for money. We particularly like their cottage rolls, which order specially as they are not part of a daily bake and their doughnuts are always fresh, full of jam and covered in proper sugar rather than the awful powdery stuff that some bakers use.
We visit when we travel the A303. Lovely bread and macaroons as always. With the new dual carriageway A303 being built, parking East bound is suspended, but slow moving queues make crossing the traffic easier!
This little bakery is a real gem !
We have driven past weekly but decided to stop and have a look . Wow! beautiful fresh pastries , pasties , cakes , bread , sandwiches, Xmas cakes and lots more . It’s a wonderful family bakery with a happy friendly and helpful family member serving . She is lovely and so helpful.
Don’t drive past ! There is parking next to it . We highly recommend this amazing little bakery .
