My son and I stayed here for just 1 night at the end of April 2023. It was a last minute booking. From the outside it looked a little on the small side but David said we would be surprised when we got in and he was right! |We arrived at about tea time and left early the next morning so didn't get a chance to try the restaurant! The apartment had everythibg we needed. All clean and modern. Beds really comfortable!! |David was so friendly and super helpful. Beautiful artwork throughout (esp live the highland cows!) We were disappointed we couldn't stay longer, but will definitely be back!
Dropped in here today for lunch with no great expectations as never been before. We were very pleasantly surprised with the food but more so by the level of service we received. ||We hadn’t booked and it was busy and the young lady who received us was extremely helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately I did not get her name. She showed us to the bar area and went off to sort out a table in the restaurant for us which took her all of 5 minutes. ||The food on offer was a fairly typical pub menu but the food was exceptional. Obviously all freshly prepared and it was delicious.||While we were there we enquired for one of our party whether there was accommodation available for a specific date a few weeks hence for attendance at a nearby wedding. Having previously checked online it was fully booked but on asking we found there had been a recent cancellation. It was no trouble at all for her to take the booking and she showed us the room that was available. ||They actually have two self catering apartments, one a 3 bed and the other a 2 bed. The 2 bed was huge and exceptionally well furnished. Anyone looking for a base to explore this area of Ayrshire would find this exceptional. ||A great find and great service, and we will be back!
Great service, great food, husband had steak cooked perfectly for him.||I had anti pasta lovely, lovely welcome. Dog friendly in bar. ||Staff very friendly. Good atmosphere, had to wait for dessert but given complimentary drinks good price too.
I got a 2 night deal to stay in the Sorn Inn apartment with a meal on the 2nd night. The apartment was outstanding. Super spacious and tastefully decorated and designed. A lovely hamper and milk and butter in the fridge. Really lovely stay. The hosts were so welcoming and kept in touch with us. So good I'm going back.
Food was disappointing for the extremely high price being charged. The steak burger that had the consistency of cooked from frozen mush. The chicken burger was swimming in grease. The chefs only seasoning was salt as that was all we could taste! The only nice part was the side salad. I wouldn’t go back there. For the prices being charged you would expect the food to be good unfortunately it was not.
Myself and 4 friends went to the Sorn Inn for 2 nights to celebrate my 70 th birthday. ||What a wonderful place . We had a 2 bedroom apartment . It was gorgeous. So clean and very tastefully decorated. ||David(owner) , Stephanie and Billy(chef extraordinaire) we’re all so nice and helpful. If you are having a meal I strongly advise the rib eye streak. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Go Billy. ||I can really recommend the Sorn Inn . It was fabulous. ||Thanks guys had a ball x
Lovely friendly, attentive staff. The food was really delicious, we had the chef’s sharing platter, knickerbocker glory and Guinness brownie. (Loved the mural on the wall by local artist Elaine Johnstone and the fairy lights) Would definitely recommend, it is dog friendly too.
We stumbled across the Sorn Inn by accident 3 years ago and had a lovely meal. So for Father's Day hubby thought it would be nice to go back....It's 22 miles away over country roads with 2 kids in the car but as it had been so good before I booked a table!||We then discovered that it had been taken over and that we didn't really need to book as the place was only a quarter full when we arrived for dinner.||The menu isn't large and my father-in-law was unable to have what he wanted as the kitchen had run out. Be aware the prices are not pub grub prices but we are always happy to pay for good food.||The kids ordered their mains as did we, the chicken for my father-in-law and the sharing sirloin for me and hubby. We skipped the starters as the prices were eye-watering! We then waited ages for the drinks to be brought. No offer of a jug of water for the table although wine was ordered.||There were no steak knives to assist us in cutting the steaks, little touches that you would expect in an expensive restaurant were just not there.||We then ordered dessert, at £8 each you are expecting them to be home made, they're not! I explained I had a nut allergy and asked if they could check with the chef that no nuts were in the base, the waitress came back to say that the box just said may contain traces of nuts....Really, if I wanted shop bought I can go into Frankie and Benny's for the same thing at less than half the price. Hubby went for the cheeseboard for £8 which had 4 tiny pieces of cheese, 6 oatcakes, some chutney and a thinly sliced strawberry.||The bill for the 5 of us was £160 for 2 courses, so not a cheap night out and certainly not worth the money. The steak was nice but then I can have a nice steak in Glasgow City Centre fine dining for the same price that they are charging.||As others have noted the restaurant was cold and the decor is more pub like than fine dining. The staff were friendly.||||All in all the food was okay, certainly not worth the prices being charged though. We won't be back.
