Ordered a jumbo battered sausage and chips along with cheese and chips from here today. They wouldn't sell me a jumbo from the shop, it had to be two small sausages instead. The portion of chips was tiny. I kept watching people leave the takeaway next door where mine came from, and it looked nice with lots of cheese.
Instead, I got stodgy chips that was all different colours. Most was hollow and overcooked and caked in fat. Had to complain and got a new batch which was the same, if not worse.
Overall, I wouldnt eat here again. If it was cheap I would have put up with it. If you can't cook chips in a chip shop I think it's the end and you should just give up. I didn't eat it all as I couldn't get around picking out the rubbish and eating around the fat
A lovely restaurant only 50 metres from the sea. Nice food with a fair portion for the price, well worth a visit
Wanted to have fish and chips looking at the sea.
You order at the bar and the young man was polite.
The food was very good, cooked fresh to our order.
£11 something for Cod and Chips which to sit in was good price.
The only issue I had was the table was clean but had used tissues and fag butt's under the table. Could have just happened but should have been seen by the staff member who cleared up.
Saw many people using the takeaway to have in the gardens or on sea front.
This place is brilliant. Just popped in for a drink with family, but saw a bright clean restaurant with excellent meals, choice and certainly value. I watched a couple of young families feasting on beautiful looking meals. I looked at the menu and the prices are really budget friendly. Front of house seemed to be several young men who were polite, super efficient and friendly. It was so good to see a well run restaurant
This used to be called Bailey's, back then the fish was a bit on the greasy side but it was a good café nonetheless.
It's now called the Sea Breeze, and the food hasn't changed much. Nice portions for the price but the fish was slightly overdone and overly greasy, which is how some people like it.
But nice mushy peas, service was functional and friendly, lots of space inside with a proper seaside cafe feeling. All good value considering everything.
After 20yrs of visiting dawlish we finally got round to trying it out.
Absolutely spot on. The food came out quick and hot and the portions were large. My kids loved the milkshakes best they've ever had apparently. Staff were also really friendly. Don't know why we have never been before. Will definitely be back.
Superb fish and chips. Freshly made and served in a great location near the Dawlish promenade.
*UPDATE *
Visited in October 22 and was not impressed by the food quality, the chips and sausage were good, but the fish was undercooked and still had the spine in the batter, absolutely disgusting and the price was not cheap, after many years of good food from there I was bitterly disappointed.
Visited mid November during the second lockdown whilst walking in Dawlish.
This family favourite restaurant is only open for takeaway. Still a good menu, drinks and bread rolls available the chips and curry sauce were very tasty as we sat near the beach and watched the sea.
You have to order and collect from outside due to social distancing and just step inside for payment, cash and card were accepted, thanks for being there for us!
