It was great to find a chip shop/café that does gluten free, poached cod! Beautifully cooked and a generous size! My partner had battered fish n chips with curry sauce - massive fish! A warm, friendly welcome on arrival. They have a bar, so alcoholic drinks available too. Toilets available upstairs. Great decor! Would recommend a visit.
Was super excited to eat a gf fish and chips and when arrived at home and opened the box realised they gave me a small fish instead of large as ordered. The lady at the counter wasn’t listening at all hence we repeated the order 3 times clearly not enough times though we paid for full portions. Extremely disappointed as can’t even go back now to exchange/complain.
Very nice restaurant where you can eat the traditional english meal of chips and fried fish. Very well located and with a very beautiful view.

Ordered:
Mini fish n chips with curry sauce £6.50
Large chips, cod + curry sauce £12.30
Considering the price difference there was very minimal difference in portion size. Might as well have saved £6 and got another mini.
Not freshly cooked. Food came out within a minute of sitting down. When ordering I was looking at the fish that looked like it had been sat for a while and that is what we got. Chips were alright. The curry sauce however was lovely.
Staff didn't seem too bothered, floors slippy, toilets dark and dingy. Unfortunately won't be coming here next time.
Visited before watching the Matlock illuminations, considering the fish bar was full there wasn’t a queue and we were served very efficiently. One lady took the order and another served the food. As soon as we had paid for the food, it was there waiting for us. The food was piping hot and fish batter was lovely and crisp. The chips were very well cooked too and not at all greasy. We put our own salt and vinegar on. One thing I could say was the large chips was only enough for 2 people. Maybe it could be a larger portion ? All in all a very pleasant visit.
Portions were on the smaller side, but service was quick and staff were friendly. Sat outside, it was tidy and water bowls provided for dogs. Battered sausage was just OK, chips fresh but greasy. Fish was good!
Fantastic Gluten Free fish and chips!
Quite a few fish and chip shops in Matlock bath to choose from, so when we chose Riverside fish bar for our freshly cooked cod chips and peas we made the right choice, absolutely delicious.
