Best KPortal Reviews
Always held this place in High regard, but not been for many years and stopped by for a sausage roll and some pies. Wont be going back for many years either. Sausage meat was awful, almost rubber like. I thought I remembered these being quite peppery, but obviously not. Prescot pie didn't live up to much either! Pretty disappointed.
We come for the meat pies, which, although they've retained the delicious taste, seem significantly smaller these days. Staff - bit too much chatting with each other, and sort of like they're doing you a favour.
Update: ordered some pies (as there rarely seems to be any ready) and needed to add two more so tried phoning for that simple adjustment. Not so simple when all you get is a recording saying leave a message. The meat pies are nice (but small), but it's unpleasant wondering if there will be any there when you go out especially to get them, and also not being able to speak to a human when you phone the shop. It is good that the stock sells quickly but the inefficient management results in disappointment.
Legendary in the local area. I'm 66 and remember my mum shopping there when I was a little boy. Their food is excellent, no wonder they are still there after all these years.
Sausage roll soggy pies definitely not handmade Would say they are bought in maybe even frozen
Cream bun very nice soft chewy
Very disappointed based on the reviews went for breakfast but had none.
If this is the best Liverpool has to offer I am seriously disappointed in Liverpool.
Small local bakery with a big product list. Nicely presented, helpful staff, reasonable price. Worth the stop.. they have their own car park to the side, pay and display but your cost is taken off your purchases
I was with my mother and we've been to Ray's on a number of occasions. We both had an egg, sausage and chip lunch. We felt that the quality was lacking - the chips were hard, the sausage was small and the fried eggs were almost cold when received. The service was quite friendly, though. Arguably, the value for money could be better.
A fantastic selection of pies and pasties, beautiful cakes and breads too. Fantastic if you need anything from a birthday cake to a quick snack. Great indoor eating area too. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food always tastes good and the service is good. Parking available at reasonable price too plus refunded with purchase instore
Prsonally believe this to be the best cakes in Liverpool!! Lovely cafe next to shop, freshly cooked food/sandwiches/puds, and a decent cup of tea/coffee. Shop has freshly made bread, cakes (including cream cakes) and pies (just like mum/nan used to make!) which are obviously sold in the cafe too. Celebration cakes made to order. Also has meat counter and sells their own blend of coffee, best jam and chutneys. Well worth the extra cost.
Small car park at side (just beyond council car park) and ticket machine which issues voucher with your ticket that will be refunded with purchase at Ray's shop or cafe. Shop been there for about 100 years (literally).
