Best KPortal Reviews

A lovely pub to have a drink at when cycling/walking/... along the canal. I've only been here twice and both times drank a lager of their recommendation with great appreciation.
I expected slightly cheaper prices because of the location but given the fact you can pay by card for starters and with ample seating area outside, toilets on ground level, and many more extra benefits; the price is well worth it.
Very nice view on a good day.
Great pub, with friendly staff in a beautiful location. The canal alongside, (The Crumlin Arm of the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal) is perfect for a leisurely stroll, taking in the views, or more actively jogging or cycling.
Great food in a lovely pub, with views to match.
We've visited The Prince of Wales in Risca, (sitting nicely near the bank of the Crumlin arm of the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal) many times for a drink, either inside, or out in their garden area, depending on the weather. We in the county of Caerphilly are in lockdown at present, so wanted to eat out somewhere local & decided to give the Prince a try.
This turned out to be a good move - we already knew that Helen, Jason and the team provided a very friendly, relaxing pub environment, but the food was a real bonus! They sensibly, (in our opinion) offer a small menu of meal options, but that means they can do them all really well, (amazing when you see the size of the kitchen!). We opted for their homemade Thai curries (fish and chicken versions) which were both cooked perfectly - great flavours and the rice was spot-on! After that we bravely attacked their jaffa-topped cake, (probably called something totally different ☺) which was so good, we had to eat the lot!.
A bottle of wine, very helpful staff, a warm, friendly environment & fine valley views helped to make it the perfect visit. We'll be back.
Traditional pub with great staff and management. A very friendly and warm atmosphere helped in the winter months by a wood burning stove. Wye valley HPA on hand pull is excellent. Thoroughly recommend.
Didn't have food just coffee, made to feel welcome, nice open fire with very pleasant staff.
Old local pub ????
Animals welcome.
A traditional pub with a small bar and modern lounge/function room. Two beer gardens with spectacular views of countryside. Pub is next to a canal too. Variety of beers, lagers, ciders on sale. Meals are also served (at particular times) which usually have great reviews. A great landlord and landlady with friendly efficient staff.
Met up with some old friends for a quiet drink, great atmosphere and warming fire in the bar. Didn't have any food, but have been told it's great.
Sadly not a good experience. Turned up on time for a meal for my wife's birthday. Ordered drinks and asked to order but we were still waiting for someone. They arrived 10 mins later. Nearly an hour later still hadn't ordered even though we had asked the staff three times that we wanted to order. Patience ran out and we ended up down the local curry house. To be fair if we knew they didn't have a kids menu we wouldn't have arranged to go there in the first place even though the pub states it's family friendly. The drinks were nice but when others coming in after us are eating and we still haven't ordered and continually being ignored it simply isn't good enough. Great view though.
Went to a wedding at this Pub of a couple who have been dear to me for a very long time.
The food produced by the chef was amazing.
No plastic ham or beef here. Proper cuts of succulent, tender meat, melting in the mouth served with an array of delicious accompaniments.
The atmosphere in this family run pub was amazing.
The service provided by the staff was first class professional and delivered with a cheery smile.
The views in the beer garden across the valley are stunning. "How Green Was My Valley" comes to mind.
Come try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed
