I may have been given the last portion of chips before a much needed oil change (at 6.30pm!) But what I was served is just unacceptable. The grease, combined with old fried bits of batter that were kicking around in the old oil for a good few cooks was in fact so bad that I couldn't even taste the salt or vinegar. Come on guys with only 5 items on the menu how can you get chips so wrong??! Sorry but I won't be going back after this.
Always use this fish and chip shop rather than the one in Welwyn or Knebworth. Always get a great takeaway, fish is cooked to order but that’s no bad thing. Yes it seems pricey for fish and chips but think that’s the going rate to be fair.
Went on a Sunday. Large Cod and Chips. £13+ The chips tasted like they had been reheated and although the fish was cooked well it tasted bitter and didn't taste like Cod. Fancied a treat and went out of my way to go there and it was a let down.
Two fish and chips and a meat pie. £29 The chips dished up was a very small portion. I asked if that was it. To which I was told that yes if you don’t like it go elsewhere the prices are on the wall. Don’t worry I will not be going back. Poor service lack of food for the price. In fairness the fish was nicely cooked but not worth that much.
Absolutely disgusting chips,re heated,approximately 15 chips for £3.50.
Not the first time I've had a horrible meal from there and never again.Should be due a visit soon from food standards agency.
Steer well clear is my advice.
Always friendly & fresh, hot food. Great chips; out favourite fish & chip takeaway in the area. ????
Went there at 12 pm today , hungry for nice food . Chips were cold , battered sasuage was not even crispy . Paid 7 ish quid for a meal that was about 3 quids worth …. Don’t waste your time here
Best fish and chips in the country! Seriously. I live far but it’s worth the travel. And staff are lovely too! Always with a smile on their face. 100% recommended. Ocean star is best
