This chippy has renamed itself to Gateacre Fish Bar. We ordered our food just after 16:30, the lady on the phone said 45-60 minutes which was fine given the current pandemic, 1hr 30 min later we were still waiting so we called again only to be told it would be another 30 minutes, we stood by that again, putting into consideration the current circumstances, 45 minutes later still nothing so the last call we made she said the food was still waiting and hadn’t even been sent out for delivery, which could cause potential food poisoning. We ended up needing to cancel. Absolutely appalling service given by this chippy as it was our first time trying it, if they had been open and honest from when we ordered that would have been acceptable however they expected us to wait nearly 3 hours for food that we ordered just after they opened, took our number and didn’t even bother to call us. will not be returning back.
Ordered there last night, haven't used the chippy for a while. but the food was amazing, arrived quick and hot. Chips perfect and all meals correct, cashiers very friendly, new management in shop and it shows. Will be ordering again. Happy to have a good chippy to order from again.
This used to be a great chippy. Gone down in my estimation massively . Poor portions, always missing parts of your order . When you phone back rude and unacceptable excuses . Used it for 20 years never again it’s rubbish . Ps my brother ordered a kebab etc last weekend. They said it was on its way, never got delivered. Don’t trust them unless your desperate.
Worst ever !!!
How can you get a small tray of chips wrong????? When I use this chippy now I'll only risk chips and gravy curry and chips etc, nearly broke my teeth on the chips god knows how long they had been lying around for! This place is defo in the running for the worst chippy in Liverpool. I should of swerved it when I saw the woman who usually works behind the counter frying all the food. Avoid this health hazard people!!!!!!!!!
Food arrived lukewarm at best. The doner kebab had to be the smallest I've ever seen and the pitta was rock hard. Chips looked like they'd been cooked on a radiator. Won't be using again.
I use this chippy at least once a week for past year or so, they deliver within 20-40 mins and they have never got the order wrong yet. The food is of a good standard and not a bad price. Great service everytime. I love the fact they do smaller fish and chips which is enough for one greedy person- thanks Ocean Fry from Jan in chartwell
Food was terrible. poor services. they even tried to take the money twice.
Update.
They offered a refund and a replacement meal. I declined. I just want to forget the matter. Then I was told they was looking for me on social media. Very strange and worrying.

This is my local chippy, keep giving it the benefit of the doubt but never again. Service is abhorrent, the staff are all terribly mannered and won't even go as far as to smile at you. Every single time I go here they get my order wrong. Last night I ordered 2 portions of salt and pepper chips ('with white onions please') they informed me they always put onions on them (they don't). Got home to 2 cold half filled trays of salt and pepper chips without a trace of onion. Hardly a difficult order to get wrong. If you want service with a snarl and a half arsed attempt at a meal then this is the place for you
