We travelled from Yorkshire to visit Beamish museum, booked in for 2 nights the room was immaculate, comfortable, the host was so lovely as were her staff. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was Spot on the locals made us feel so at home, will definitely be returning ????
Never study in Newcastle again when up here for work. Great little pub, helpful, friendly owners.... Nice breakfast and great value. Every time I'm up these parts going forward I'm staying here
Perfect for a visit to Beamish. We stayed overnight for a wedding close by, great hosts, the rooms were clean, well presented and perfect for our stay. The optional cooked breakfast (£7.95, I think) was well worth the money. Good cask beer too. Our room overlooked the road above the bar, and literally didn't hear a sound.
Good point - room was cosy|Bad points - |bin liner being used as black out blind!!|Condition of paintwork especially skirting|Condition of walls|Cold shower, went from chilly to baltic and back to chilly|No soap/hand wash at sink|Breakfast was greasy and tasteless and included tinned tomato|No remote for TV so had to use torch to see the tiny buttons underneath to change channel/volume. |None of this was anything like all the positive reviews I had seen before booking. Clearly none of thos positive reviews stayed in the room I was in!!
Just a quick night stay here. Great service and polite staff , checked us in asked if we would like breakfast then showed us straight to our room. We booked the twin room in the seprate building behind as we wanted our own entrance as we wouldent be back intill late , they kindly upgraded us to the double room which the room was lovely and cozy. Couldent find any faults.
Great views over the countryside. The room has been kept in its traditional features, double poster bed, great breakfast the staff are absolutely amazing and nothing was a problem. Breakfast, i have to say, was delicious and served with a smile. Would i stay again, too, right? i Would i recommend it has a place where you can relax, enjoy the atmosphere yes definitely. Now, on our list of hotels to stay on our travels.
Couldn't get a hotel room in Durham for love or money, which turned out to be a blessing. The Oak Tree Inn was perfect: Clean, cosy rooms with everything you could need and a great breakfast, all at very reasonable rates. Saturday is Karaoke Night and there are some very talented singers at this friendly, welcoming pub at the heart of its community. We will definitely go back.
Stayed for one night as I was up on business in Consett, easy check in but it did feel a bit like the slaughtered lamb from American Werewolf as I walked in with the locals staring at me. Room was spacious, clean and with everything I needed. The reason I chose the oak tree was because it stated it done food and breakfast. |They have now stopped food as I was told so had to order a pizza in which wasn’t ideal and breakfast was served from 8.30 which was too late as I had to be at my conference by 9.00. |But apart from that it was ok for the price
