Nice place to get some indian food near Kensington. The place can get filled quickly, so a reservation is recommended. Non-vegetarian options are good. Meat is halal. Slightly expensive but you can't expect cheap in Central London.
i recommend the desert with the ice cream and the carrots, can’t remember the name but it was very delicious. as well as the spicy pumpkin side. i have to admit that the portions are a little small for the price u pay, but still doable. regarding the ambiente, i can’t say too much, since we sat outside, which was alright, car sounds and what not are kind of unavoidable. the servers were really nice and we had some smalltalk. i’d give it another visit the next time i’m in london :)
Edit: First of all, I don't know how I can repay your debt for giving me one of your many empty 4 seater tables. Oh yeah, maybe I have already by paying the money for the sub standard service and food. It would've been much better if you hadn't done me this favour and I would have had a not so disappointing meal at some place else. Apparently, you think you're the only Indian restaurant in London.
The only reason you found my dishes empty is because I don't like wasting food, even if it is tasteless. And when asked for feedback, I didn't wanna ruin my evening on an argument which I believe was right in doing considering how hostile and condescending you are responding to a critical and honest Google review. Regarding serving water, I'll just leave it to you to give up your delusion and see how hospitality at other restaurants work. My mistake I confused you with the popular Moti Mahal Deluxe. It'll be good for your business if you come out of your delusional world and leave your customers happy.
Here's a review from an Indian foodie.
Ordered chana masala(chickpeas curry) and yellow lentils with potatoes. It was all so terribly bland and tasteless lacking the ingredients as basic as salt. The dahl was a burnt oily thing I've tasted. It lacked any Indian flavour and spices. The gajar halwa dessert was nice though.
Service wise, not even water was served, had to sip from my gym bottle I was carrying.
Ambience is a bit congested.
In short, it's nothing but a yet another claiming to be Indian restaurant in central London while blemishing the name of renewed Moti Mahal.
PS: It's sad how people from other cultures come here to taste the Indian cuisine and this is what they get to taste. Wouldn't recommend or go again. I was lured by the Google rating. Thanks for ruining my cheat meal.
Good food. Not big portions but for us it's worked just fine! Very generous service with wide Indian smile
Fully halal restaurants (no alcohol) which is rare in London. The set up is neat and clean, another thing which is rare in London. The staff were super friendly playing with the kids and the plates and wet tissues were served hot! The food was good (4/5) and served quickly. I think this is one of Londons hidden gems and I'm surprised it wasn't more full considering how pleasent the staff were
We had a lovely first experience at Moti Mahal! Very friendly service and great indian food! The Naan bread was probably the best I have ever had, and all the other dishes we ordered very balanced and tasty! Prices were also fairly cheap, which is always welcomed! The restaurant does not serve alcohol but you can pop into a Tesco nearby, if desired. I would definitely recommend visiting Moti Mahal when around the South Kensington area!
Delicious food, very kind staff and prices are quite good for the area. Great first impression.
This is a restaurant that has been running for 66 years. My children have grown with this restaurant dishes. It is our favourite Indian in London. We always feel welcome by friendly staff. This is not an anonymous place and we love to know there are atill places like that in London. Highly recommend their butter chicken and their lassy is like no other. Highly recommended
