This company aim to protect the NHS and try to treat people like they're retarded.
They're trying to tell me I don't have case when it clearly been stated by the specialist that had to perform 3 corrective surgeries on my shoulder and arm which has left me with a permanent disfigurement that it is medical negligence and malpractice yet these try to tell me otherwise in order to protect the NHS and then when they realise your not retarded and you know what you're talking about they hang up on you.
They claim they don't condone what the NHS has done yet refuse to take the case on even when I have provided all the relevant documents and medical reports that state the same thing I was fit and well until I had the original surgery that needed 3 corrective surgeries to fix, it is impossible to go in to an operation with one problem and then leave with more problems than started with.
I would steer clear of this firm as I am an international football player and also an ambassador for our national team England FC, so there is a guaranteed win yet they still say can't do it and that is because they are protecting the NHS from being sued
Got the job done but it was excruciating. It's taken 2yrs to bring a property dispute to an end. Communication from HJ staff is extremely poor, bordering on disrespectful and discourteous. They take an unreasonable amount of time to get back to you via email. I had to constantly chase for updates and information/updates was just never forthcoming from them. They've only spoken to me on the phone 3 times in 2yrs. Completion took place without me even being given the heads up and I was only told when I called in for an update 4 days after completion took place. Client care is not their forte - business just transactional with absolutely no regard for the emotion that can be involved or attached to highly emotive cases such as mine. Definitely NOT a Top 100 Law Firm in terms of client experience.
First contacted this firm in May and as of yet (October) still haven't had my initial statement taken. Hounded me to sign the initial documentation even though I had very little information, in total I've had 2 initial induction type phone calls from Stephen and Rachel. Rachel spoke to me 9th July was supposed to email me so I could forward her additional information in preparation for a phone call on 14th July. When I contacted the Paralegal, Ryan, I got quite a shocking attitude from both in an email stating I didn't send my additional docs in so they didnt get in touch. I stated I wasn't given an email address to send these too, they didn't respond. I then sent my things to Ryan which I was uncomfortable with to try get things moving. That was 26th July. I have since reminded Ryan as nothing has happened in months and still nothing is moving. This firm really are nothing worth bothering with and I hope no more serving personnel put their trust in this firm.
I used Hugh James as a Conveyancer. It is a very poor service that costs you time and money.
The customer experience is handled through a portal, which has zero useful information on it. Hugh James will not email you to give you an indication of the status of your case.
If Hugh James wants something from you, they'll send you an empty email, with attachments added where you need to interpret what it is they want. Or they'll send you a document in the post, without a cover letter.
They will not answer the phone. They indicate in their hold music that they will not provide you any information over the phone except that which is available in the portal, which is zero.
After a LOT of costly delays, my completion date was finally set, but I was not informed of this date until 4pm the day before. This left me scrambling to process the transaction with no notice.
Now that the completion has happened, I have received zero documentation about the details of my new mortgage leasehold agreement. I wonder if I even legally own the property.
If you have the choice, DO NOT use this organisation.
ABSOLUTELY USELESS
Remortgaging with Virgin Money using Hugh James as the solicitor has been an absolute nightmare. None of my 15 plus emails in the past month have been responded to. Kept on hold for hours on end only to be cut off. Absolutely no communication whatsoever. I would leave them zero stars if I could. All they've done is waste my time and cost me money. My advice to anyone reading this is as soon as your bank tells you Hugh James is the conveyancer, request immediately that you are switched to another firm and use these reviews as the reason. Terrible, terrible service. I will be speaking to the bank today to request another solicitors as these guys do not have a clue what they are doing.
I have nothing but praise with my dealings with Katherine Allen, partner at Hugh James, specialising in Personal Injury claims. She has been empathic, friendly & professional. Communication, either by email, phone or text, always clear & quick to reply & never with unnecessary content. I have felt like she was treating me as a person rather than just another case.
I highly recommend her services if you are unfortunate enough to need them.
