Best KPortal Reviews
Amazing wee shop!! Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the area, great selection of snacks, groceries, and crafts, and great hot drinks! As some other reviews have mentioned the food and drinks approach gourmet level which was a surprise for such a small and remote little shop without much competition.
We got some coffee which was excellent and some "angel cakes" from their selection of baked goods which my boyfriend and I were raving about - they were some of the best baking I've ever had!! I hope to come back to the Elgol Shop soon :)
Fantastic wee shop and cafe in Elgol. It was closed when we arrived but we set up camp right beside it on a lovely grassy bank. Had our supper on the picnic tables which were very conveniently located for us, and got a really strong signal from the shop WiFi which the owner Hermione had very helpfully left on for us to use that night. When she arrived early the next day she greeted us with a roll of her eyes and shaking of her head, which I think is a Highland thing, meaning that she was pleased to see us and grateful that we'd chosen this site on which to camp. Then she very helpfully came out with a bucket of water to put out a campfire (which we didn't have, it was a disposable BBQ). We left no trace of our visit.
Such a beautiful location with the Cuillin mountains to the right, the little island of Soay in front and a view of Canna, Rum and Egg, plus the drive down the road to Elgol is stunning it’s a real hidden gem definitely worth visiting.
Amazing range of goods for a wee place, a very handy shop, that just happens to have lovely staff and a proper coffee machine that has no right to be there, making excellent take-away coffee and home-baked treats. NB no seats, it’s not a café, but no problem to shelter from rain and midges for a chat, while you eat and drink
The food, drink and service from the Elgol Shop is fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly staff set in the most beautiful settings in all of Scotland. Try the Elgolian
The baked goods are great here. There is not a lot of different foods you can buy here so not great for groseries. And they have short opening hours so keep that in mind. But deffinently worth a visit.
A handy little shop, as far as I know there aren't any others anywhere nearby.
As well as some drinks, sweets, snacks and groceries it also has some very nice souvenirs, gifts and ornaments.
Every purchase you make in community shops like this, helps to keep it open and provide for the local community, particularly in winter.
Well worth a visit, lots a choices between grocery items, delicious cakes, cobs, hot and cold drinks, soaps, baths products, beautiful hand painted floats, second hand books, and many other items. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking and outside seating, view over the Atlantic ocean and Isle of Rum.
