I have a 21 year old VW Passat and booked into the Plymouth depot for a new windscreen on 17 January 2024 where I was met by Jerry. He took the time to explain what he would be doing when removing and fitting the screen. I watched from the entrance and can say Jerry was the consummate professional taking extreme care in all that he did. Thank you Jerry.
I took my campervan for windscreen replacement. Had loads of contact beforehand to make sure I knew when and where I was going.
I arrived a bit early and the mechanic (I have forgotten his name ????) said it would be roughly an hour so I said I would go for a walk. He told me about a short cut through to Chaplins where I had a mooch round and lunch then returned.
I gestured that I would wait in the lounge. Within minutes the mechanic came in and said the screen was in and wipers are all that is left to do so should be about 10 mins.
10 mins later he came back and we talked about my van and the fact it was still stuffed with things from my trip to Reading festival. The mechanic came from Reading and we chatted about that for a few minutes and then I was given my keys and shown the way to get out.
The whole experience was super quick, professional and exceptionally friendly - as a female I felt totally at ease - would highly recommend this company and this branch of the company. They are on the Bell Close Industrial Estate in Plympton, Plymouth ????
Dropped my car off at the agreed time, was told to come back at 2pm and windscreen would be done. Received a call at 1.30pm to say the car hadn't even been started and no way it would be finished in time to pick kids up from school. Wouldn't have minded so much, but I'd driven over an hour to get there (nearest center offered through insurance) and needed windscreen changed before MOT in a few days time as would fail. Agreed to come back on Saturday morning (to be fair to him he was supposed to be on holiday) so he could sort it for me. Hardly said a word to me, clearly very cross at having to come in on a Saturday, moaning about other customers etc. A good job done (at the 2nd attempt) just obviously not a people person and hates his job!
It was a very easy and pleasant experience. I was seen by Jack who was very efficient and helpful. Jack showed me to a waiting room which was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recomend Auto windscreens of Plymouth. I had a new windscreen replacement and two new front windscreen wipers. So pleased with job done.
Car went in for a remove screen and rebond, as it was leaking. Absolute embarrassment from start to finish. Arrived early {sorry] but employee just put the kettle on -for him, not me - then -grunt - "got your key" - yes , here you are.
I'll wait in the waiting room then, a dirty hole with a broken tv. No coffee or tea due to covid, [bullpoo] despite what the website says.
Hour later, my pride and joy is still nowhere near done, so, where can I get a coffee - Mr Happy points me to the nearest cafe, but please come back in an hour. So I do, an hour later and my old screen is still in. I ask "Can you remove and replace without breaking it" to be told "Doubt it".
Another half an hour in the hole they call waiting room and surprise, my screen broke on removal.{new screens must be more commission} So a new screen required.
Another half an hour and Mr Cheerful [ i still dont know his name, never introduced himself !!] come in and says he has to drive my car to re-calibrate the camera, will be 15 minutes.
45 minutes later he comes back, I'm sure he went home for lunch or visit someone, while I look after the empty unit so he does not have to "lock up while I'm gone" !!
Mr Happy comes back and says "all done" - yes, I certainly have been. I'll put the windscreen wipers back in their original position when I get home then. ?????
I did ask him if he liked working there and he said "yeah, its great" - I did consider calling the Samaritans as he seemed like a man on the edge, so unhappy.
So, eventually, left for home, then the plastic trim around the rear view mirror and camera fell off, and still does not fit properly, but I am not going back there, a totally unprofessional company with a mickey mouse outfit.
Unless your insurance insist, avoid.
