Everyone was friendly, helpful and quick. I loved Dr. Atkinson also, he listens intently and gives important feedback, options and plans for what you need. Meds were sent immediately and my labs were done right there in office right after the visit and I got meds that evening. Highly recommend this office!
Dr. Wiley and her staff are awesome! They are always so nice and I never feel rushed. She really takes the time to answer all of your questions and to explain all of your options. And their after hours follow up is amazing!
I wish I could give sub ratings but
Staff 5/5 Stars
Dr. Thomas 5/5 Stars
The environment was very welcoming, calming, and clean.
The wait time was nearly 0, it was great I was in and out in under half an hour but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just efficient.
The reason for my 3 star rating is detailed below
I feel like Dr. Thomas did everything he could to help me but certain policies prevented him from giving me the care I needed.
The treatment plan I have been on for 11 years to treat my GAD involves alprazolam whenever I have to be in an environment that exacerbates my symptoms. This usually means a 2 to 3 day supply once or twice a year at most. Apparently the policy of Ascension St. John is to never prescribe benzodiazepines.
As a result I was prescribed a 30 day supply of Buspirone, a medication I had never taken before. I decided to keep an open mind, at the end of the day if it kept my symptoms under control and allowed me to complete the task I needed in the environment that causes my symptoms to be at their peak I would have been happy.
Long story short, it did not. It in fact made my symptoms worse, as a result I lasted less than 2 hours in an environment I needed to last 3 days in. Causing me to miss opportunities that I otherwise would have access to.
I don't understand the logic behind changing up a working treatment plan for something that a patient has never taken before and has unknown reaction to. I would understand the hesitancy more if the treatment plan involved long term use of benzodiazepines, but that was not the case.
I will be searching for a clinic that has no such policies. At the end of the day I don't care what medications I take to long as they work (within limits) and I feel like I won't be able to receive the care I need at this location so long as these policies are in place. I'm also concerned that should I need care for a different issue, I may run into other policies I am not currently aware of that prevent me from getting the treatment I need.
The staff were all fantastic and professional. I have nothing against them. My grievance is against the policies currently in place.
Dr. Wiley is great—compassionate, knowledgeable, presents options clearly, takes the time to answer all questions completely. She was able to see me in an already busy day yesterday and put my injury on the road of recovery. So grateful for her!
I have been a patient with this group for over 14 years, and the level of care has always been more than satisfactory. I sense that they struggle with the same health care system issues that plague everyone: cost of care, cost of drugs, timely availability of services.
Dr Wiley and her staff have a genuine interest in serving their patients well. I can tell they work hard but stick with me anytime there is a problem.
Will not be returning.
I do not recommend this office, especially for anxiety patients. I received automated calls telling me to call back and reschedule my first new med and lab work follow up, which happened 4 times over 20 days as they couldn't keep their appointments. I was told over the phone that I would be seeing Dr. Petrey, yet Dr. Schraeder came in for the visit. I asked her to review my lab work with me, and after we reviewed a partial list of my meds, I was shown out as she forgot to both provide and explain the test results. I had to ask the check out receptionist for a copy of my lab work to take elsewhere. I asked if I had a copay and was told "no." I was billed for it later. I disputed this in May through the number Ascension left in response to my review, and they did not return my call until August. The copay was never resolved.
The staff was friendly and efficient. I appreciated that I had very little wait time in both the waiting room and the patient room.
