Best KPortal Reviews

One of the two highest-rated cafes/eateries in Carmarthen and absolutely deserves that accolade. Attached is Saturday 23rd's brunch menu for reference only.
We (2 of us) received a warm welcome, inadvertently chose Kidwelly Castle table (where sister lives, all tables have their own castle name, cute touch) and the welcome was warm and efficient, distributing menus, offering drinks and pointing out the Specials.
Dining partner had the Miso Mushrooms special, I had scrambled eggs, with a side of bacon and hash brown. What arrived was far beyond expectations, portions huge, utterly delicious. I normally don't bang on in too much detail but everything was utterly fresh, local, well-seasoned, constructed and creative (e.g. the mushrooms had slivers of brussel sprouts tossed through along with fresh herbs) and hot.
Most important to mention - they were the best hash browns I have ever tasted (and I'm a food snob who lives in Australia where food is seriously good).
The venue appears small but there's also a downstairs section expanding potential seating and the toilet was immaculate with individual hands towels ...
The whole place was a delight, which very much includes those who worked there. Why only 4 stars for Atmosphere? Other than 1 additional couple also eating brunch who left relatively shortly after we arrived, we were the only people there.
For anyone reading this ... Please make the effort and support this eaterie. It's worth every penny and needs to be in Carmarthen town centre for a long time to come .... Cheers.
PS, I'm not related to anyone who owns this joint or works there ????????????

We had brunch at the Y Barbican this morning.
The vibe was fun and friendly.
We had a Lovely welcome from the front of house team.
The menu was exciting, the only problem I had was, what to choose.
The food was out of this world amazing, beautifully presented and extremely tasty.
I would highly recommend Y Barbican. Well done team. 5 stars *****
HIDDEN GEM IN CARMARTHEN. Absolutely fantastic little café! Very warm and chill atmosphere with fantastic coffees and the cheesecake is better than those which I have had in New York. Couldn't recommend any higher if I tried!
This is a really great restaurant in the heart of Carmarthen. Locally run, offering something a little different, always amazingly tasty and a great welcome whenever you visit. We had our staff Christmas party here recently and the experience was 5 stars. The food was delicious, with amazing fresh produce and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The staff were attentive and really looked after us.
The coffees and take away lunches are always top notch as well. Would 100% recommend.
Best cafe in Carmarthen by a mile. Amazing food menu, changing specials board and delicious coffee! The friendliest staff and great atmosphere.
Delicious cake and decent big portion size too. Delicious chai tea and latte. Friendly helpful staff. Cute cosy surroundings. Looking forward to trying more of the delicious cakes. You need to try this place if you’re after fab tasting cake. They also do plenty of savoury options too.
Simply astonishing food, at incredible prices. We had the chef’s special, mussels. Wow! These were some of the best mussels we’ve had, on a part with the freshest mussels we’ve tasted in France. This restaurant is highly recommended!!
Happened to be in Carmarthen so checked out places for brunch. So glad we picked Y Barbican. The bang bang chicken and waffles was one of the best things I've eaten in a while, my wife's full breakfast stack was huge and delicious. Great coffee to. Highly recommend.
