Welcoming ambiance and staff. Serving good food at reasonable prices, though sometimes the wait for your food can be a bit longer than you would expect.
Nice little outdoor dinning area if the weather is nice.
My wife and I ate here after a summer concert in the park. Pix are of menu posted outside on 9/9/17. Food quality was 2-star/fair; portion size and service were 4-star/very good; mixed drinks were 5-star/excellent (strong drinks). I got the ribs, she got mushroom-swiss burger. Both could have been better, but both were worth the price; value was 4-star very good.
I would recommend this place to a friend, and both my wife and I would go back.
If i could give this hole in the wall zero stars I would! My wife and I stopped there today and were immediately told that it was very busy and they only had 2 waiters. It would be at least a 20 min wait. It didn't seem busy but we waited anyway. 20 min later I asked if he could check is a table was available. He took us back to an empty house! only 2 of the 12 - 15 tables were taken, and 1 needed busing! We patiently waited another 5 minutes for someone to come and at least take our drink order. No one ever came so we got up and left. On the way out we heard a snide "thank you". I can only assume this whole ordeal was because I was wearing an "Indivisible" tee shirt, and my wife has blue hair. We were polite the whole time so there was no reason to treat us this way. We were not rude until the end when we left. I simply said "They obviously don't want out money! and they don't deserve it anyway!" If you can't keep politics out of your business, than you shouldn't be in the service industry!
6/10/17 I ordered the 10 oz NY strip steak, and the menu stated I had a choice of soup or salad, fries or potato. Well, I was served my salad and Steak, but the waiter and manager argued that I had only one choice of a side not two. I pointed out the menu stated differently.. they informed me the owner only provides one side for the $24.95 meal. I received a small salad 3 pieces of asparagus, and my steak for $24.95. What a ripoff!! An other person with me ordered his steak blood rare, but received a medium cooked steak. I'll never eat there again. Terrible service!!!
I was here yesterday 5/19/18. The hamburger was delicious, and so were the fries. People are friendly and they will not bug you while you are eating. They also had live music. If you are not into that, move to the back of the building--they have a patio there. ¡Muy buen lugar para comer!
Seems to be THE place to go in Markleeville, with a long history. One of the oldest buildings in town, it used to be the Cutthroat Saloon, and long before that a historic hotel. Today it provides very good pub style food and drinks with very friendly service. The ribs, burgers, and garlic fries were all great.
We went to this restaurant yesterday. According to the host it was their new chef's first day. So my review is only based on the food the new chef made which was more than terrible. My wife got a Caesar salad and I got a Reuben sandwich with garlic fries ( I was told the new chef wasn't ready so they could only make basic food). The new chef "surprised" me in a way that I never experienced before - how can anyone mess up Caesar salad and a Reuben sandwich? The sandwich was tinier than you can ever imagine, the pastrami was years old. The fries were even unspeakably terrible, it was saggy and greasy and half cooked for no reason. I mean, was the deep fryer broken? Because that's all one needs to do to make fries. My wife's salad was just some lettuce and chopped up overpriced frozen chicken tossed in a plate. However, regardless of the terribleness of the food, the proportion was the thing that really got on my nerve. To me, if a restaurant can't make good food, that's ok, at least try to make it up by serving bigger proportion, I'll be more than happy to pay for meal. Yet if a restaurant can't provide good food, nor decent proportion, then to me, it is nothing but a scam. I'm not here calling wolf creek restaurant a scam but that's how me and my wife felt after eating there and paid $11 for a tiny sized Ruben sandwich that's times worse than the one your mother makes in the morning of a lazy school day that she woke up late on.
We should up with a group of 8 adults and 3 children for lunch on 5/3/15 and it took 10 minutes to get seated. After another 15 minutes I got up and asked for a child seat we asked for when we got our table. The bartender I kept asking for help said "I can't leave this area". 30 minutes in and after several requests for water the only other employee that appeared to be there came over and said "I am not a server and work evening as a bar tender". Needless to say at this point I told the group of us to leave which was about the same time 12 more members of our group showed up. We went a few doors down to the cafe and even when ambushing them they took care of us.
Do not stop at this restaurant if you want food as all they do is drinks.
Also as a further note I made attempts to call this restaurant to let them know a big group was coming and never got through to anyone and the phone just rang. Horrible service.
