I attended treatment at this place a couple years ago, I had state insurance and the facility handled everything. Truly. I tell you they have things down to a science. It gave me a fresh start as I was completely on my own with no financial support. Thank you WDR for everything.
Horrible place. Ya need to realize it's in the middle of nowhere, people are just looking for work. Most never had an addiction, just need the 10 bucks an hour. It was a good place,.20 years ago. I been here 4 times. I couldn't get my act together. Finally one day I did,.on my own. They put boys and girls together. Which can be cool, but mostly they just screw.. and diseases are rampant. Not to mention there's juveniles on premises and they don't listen to staff and the girls come down and blow the guys for a cigarette and.......... it's not a good place. The DA should go in and talk with the juveniles cuz I seen dudes trading smokes for WHO KNOWS WHAT... someone should talk with the feds about it. I'd testify. Don't forget that there's no pay phones anymore, no vending machines, no way of getting money unless you bring it. Has to be cash too If I remember. If ya wanna leave ya can't.. which is cool that they don't want people's with emotions coming back to just leave. But they can't keep ya against your will. And they will. They will eventually drop u off in a cornfield with a Sunoco that closes early as your only source of society. They will not let you leave.. to the point you fist fight. I've seen em walk away while hood rats jumped other people. Most aren't from our area, most are rejects from buffalo that couldn't get into places up there... Not a good place. No compassion, no relaxing during detox. Used to be 5 days detox and then u go to a unit. Now it's day 2, all puking and such on meds they'll put u in a unit and FULLY EXPECT YOU to do whatever they say. I wasn't a model patient,.I ran my own program. But I did get sober... On my own. Years ago. Don't go here, go to clearbrook go to choices even. Gif you can afford it, go to marworth. Your life is worth it
WDR saved my life and I didn’t even realize it til many years later. At 16, my mother admitted me. I was 2 months clean going in. Thought I knew it all. Throughout the many days there and much work, self examination, help from a caring staff, I graduated. Indeed a miracle! Today at 58, my thoughts often go to the incredible, caring staff of WDR! I doubt anyone from my time is still there but I’d like to give every single person who has ever worked at or been associated with WDR… thank you!???? I’m eternally grateful to you all.???? Marcia
My family member just left here. It was his first time doing rehab. He went in voluntarily and was happy to go. Just as he'd entered the program voluntarily, he decided to leave early (for reasons that I'm sure he will share with me WHEN I FIND HIM). I'd called the facility for two days in a row before he left and was told that they would try to help me reach him. I was also told that he would be given the opportunity to call me back. Instead, WDR simply drove him to the bottom of the mountain and left him there...with no phone, no money, no direction, and no way to get home...IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.
Despite the grace of strangers, who allowed him to use their phones, I had difficulty arranging transportation for him to the next town, where he can catch a train or bus to his home (3 hours away). As far as I know, he is now walking for 10-13 miles to Williamsport on a remote road, and it is already dark.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A BETTER WAY TO PROVE TO A PERSON THAT YOU BELIEVE THEIR LIFE IS WORTH NOTHING.
Interestingly, when I call the facility now, my calls go straight to voice mail. I never had any trouble getting through when he was enrolled in the program.
And, how does this bode for Allenwood, that White Deer Run is leaving sick and drug-addicted individuals on the side of the road to wander their streets and fend for themselves? Fortunately, for the town, this one is not a criminal. I cannot speak for the next one.
The last I heard from my family member, he told me the people of the town had been very nice to him. While that is comforting to hear, it really isn't their responsibility to see that addicts let loose in their town find their way to safety. While it seems WDR is trying to drive home a point or, perhaps, punish people for leaving the program early, it is only humane to 1) allow them to call for transportation or 2) take them to the bus/train station if they need it - especially when you are known to drive "clients" as far away as Buffalo and New York City.
My insurance company did not pay you to put my family member (and/or the town of Allenwood) at risk.
When I finish this review I will be calling the police. Tomorrow, I will be calling your Mayor's office and reaching out to all the public officials of your community. I will also be contacting the business and residential members of Allenwood, as well as my insurance company and my lawyers if, God forbid, anything happens.
I cannot yet speak for the efficacy of your overall drug treatment program, but this practice of leaving people at the bottom of the hill HAS TO STOP. You are putting everyone, and your entire community, at risk. What a nightmare this has turned out to be!
I was there in 1973 and have been sober and clean since. Yes 50 years. It was privately owned and Don Langraf was my counselor. Very positive but not easy.
I was a patient on Unit 1 from April - May 2023. I was taught more here than any facility I’ve ever been in. The staff was great, they showed me a ton of grace and taught me a lot. The nurses are kind and will help you as much as possible during detox if you are respectful and act accordingly. Your area is as clean as you keep it tbh and the food was good for being mass produced! Today I am going on 6 months clean and and a father to my little girl. I don’t see myself here without WDR LOVE and RESPECT ❤️‍????
UPDATE - 10 months clean, loving my life ! Thank you WDR
I attended White deer run in the summer of 2022 and I had an amazing experience. I learned so much about myself and was given the tools I need to maintain my sobriety outside of the facility. The staff was incredible from the techs to the counselors, you could tell they really cared about what they were doing. The food wasn't the greatest but what can you expect from a place that has hundreds of people to feed.
I was there in the in 1996. I met some good people & even stayed in touch with a couple of guys for awhile, one died of an overdose & the other guy Tony just vanished. White dear run was a great place & it was no fault of the place just the addiction I loved white deer run. Now it is 2023 & I now have 1 year & 3 months clean & I live in Dayton Ohio. I was at the Allenwood location, it was beautiful there. I'll never forget the place. Thanks White deer. Run, ,you were part of my process.
