I was pleased to find a Veterinarian close to us and not a drive to Reno or Carson with a dog.
The first thing that made me feel uncomfortable was pet owners must stay in their cars while the pet is taken in for the exam.
My dogs do not go anywhere without us.
Not only do you stay in your car, you pay from your car. In other words, you don't get a treatment plan, just a bill.
As I wrote, my dogs do not go anywhere without us. They are going to get very anxious.
The Vet came out with prescriptions, one being antianxiety medication. The dog I took in is a typical mellow chocolate lab. She said he was anxious....yes, when you take a dog from their human, they're going to be anxious. She didn't have a clue, or just more $$.
This led us to realize having a Vet close by doesn't mean they are good.
We took the same dog to a different Vet in Reno. That office called WVVH a month before for his records, they never sent them.
WVVH tells them a week before the appointment that they did not have a dog by that name. Simple, it is my son's dog, and I was very clear on the paper work of the two different names. There was never a problem when I took him there. But all of a sudden they don't know who we are?! I was specific with my last name and to call me because my son works long hours. But, they said we were not in their system. I wrote my son's name and he was the owner.
Our visit was great with the Reno Vet. They let both of us inside, and the Vet gave him a great exam without the records.
Bud, was calm and didn't seem to have anxiety.
And, I was shocked to find the bill was only $55.
I called WVVH after the appointment to ask about the records. The person I talked to said they figured it out because they got hold of my son!? She bold face lied to me. They have my number, no one called me.
So good riddance to dishonest people.
Bud didn't like them anyway.
Dr. Fischer and her staff are the best! They always treat our dogs with a friendly and compassionate manner. If they're running a few minutes behind, it's because Dr. Fischer always takes her time to talk with you and explains what's going on in detail. She answers all questions thoroughly and offers suggestions and advice. I've never felt like she's in a rush and is always willing to give of her time. I am so greatful that such an extraordinary vet and staff are here in our little community.
This office is excellent from the doctor to the staff. I highly recommend them. They treat my animals with love and kindness.
When i had to put my beloved elderly.dog to sleep because of cancer Dr Fisher couldn't have been
more caring and gentle to both of us. I was a wreck and she softly calmed me down telling me it was her time. She was so gentle to Bella. Her staff too were so caring bringing the paperwork to me so i did not have to face anyone and waited until it was clear to walk me out. I thank you Washoe Valley Vets!
Great place! Dr. Fisher was terrific in explaining the issue then gave us several options. No pressure to hurry , very patient and time to think about our choices. True animal lovers but thoughtful of the owners too. It's a ten minute drive out of Carson but it is much better priced than anyone in Carson. Won't go anywhere else now!!
Dr Fischer is an excellent veterinarian. I give her five stars. However her receptionist’s phone manners are unprofessional. I called several times to relay a message that we cannot make tomorrows appointment,
Each time I called, her response in an impatient tone: “Washow Pet Hospital, please hold, click”. This receptionist does not have the courtesy to acknowledge the incoming caller. I did wait several minutes and the first time and gave up.
They're awesome, they help us also during some of the procedure's. Especially when you have to make the gut wrenching decision of having to put your pet to sleep.
Dr Fisher spent a lot of time with me to understand what was the problem with my cat
