Best KPortal Reviews
I have to say fish and chips always a good start to a vacation. Tried the Walnut Fish Bar, probably because it was walking distance but anyway clean inside and staff friendly. Placed order for fish and chips twice and sausage and chips with two cartons of curry. Fish tasted nice but have had better chips but at least they were edible. The only down side to the meal was the expensive bill that came in at £37.25. Back home it would have cost me about £22-£25 a vast difference.
We called in on Sunday evening and, Fish and Chip shops tend to be a bit of a risk on Sunday, I find. It was excellent - service was friendly and prompt, everything was cooked fresh in front of us and tasted superb. My fish and chips were excellent and the young lady who served us was very polite and professional. Will definitely go back.
Bought a large portion of chips and a battered sausage for 8.70 from here and the portion was tiny. The staff were really arrogant and left us waiting for quite some time, ignoring that we were even there. The food itself was very average so wouldn’t recommend.
Staff really nice and made food fresh. But not like we have in the Midlands. Reheated taste of chips and fish very small. Pricey at £13 for a fish and chips. Wouldn't mind but not authentic f and c. Tea was nice strong builders ????????
Great Chippy in Ambleside. It's my favourite place to eat after a day's walking . Great cup of tea as well
Good fish with crispy batter, excellent chips. 1 mark down on atmosphere for One Direction on the radio
I was filled with trepidation after reading the reviews but the food was just fine. Please remember it's a fish and chip shop nowhere near the coast, it will not beat your local and it may seem slightly pricey. We went just before 6pm to beat any rush. Happy to wait 15mins for freshly cooked fish. They will also charge 40p per bag so take your own if that's a concern.
We were staying in Ambleside and so got takeaway fish and chips for 7. Overpriced with powdery chips and fish which looked ok and a reasonable size but was so thin that it was rubbery, dry and awful. £4.25 for a portion of chips! Do not eat here if you can avoid it.
