I've recently discovered Vonda's.
Parking is fairly easy on a weekday.
The establishment is nice. It's spacious and usually no waiting for a table. The artwork on the walls are really nice.
The French toast is wonderful!!!! Kudos to the chef!!!!

You’re charged a 25% gratuity charge for a group of 5 or more!! Which we did not see! Or would have left!!! The appetizer was $17 for 4 chicken wings!! The wings was pre-cooked and warmed up in the microwave the chicken was stuff!! The baked Mac and cheese was horrible, had a weird taste to it!! The sweet potatoes was from the can, and you charged me $300!! My son waited 10 minutes for his very very dry pancakes, syrup didn’t help them pancakes!! This is not a soul food restaurant!! And the 25% was a total rip off the food was disrespectfully disgusting! I paid an extra $50!!! For disgusting food that I gave to my dog. We left that place and went to McDonald’s!! So that’s MORE MONEY I spent!!!! And then talk about a tip!!! Not with that $50 gratuity fee!! This was the worst food ever!! Over priced for horrible food!! And now all of our stomachs hurt!!! Never again!! This is why I have a hard time supporting a black owned business, they over charge and the food is horrible!!!!!! The time you took in making the restaurant look nice, should have been the time you spent in cooking. This was a rip off!!! $300!!!!!!!!!! GONE!!!
My family and I went here for Sunday brunch and it was pretty good. Outside of the waiter mistaking salad dressing for oil and the brioche French toast and bananas could have been a better presentation, we had a great waiter. It was amazing and I would definitely go back and try something else.
Very nice little place. The music, atmosphere, and service were very good. The shrimp and grits are made with a tomato based sauce that is very good. And the catfish was fried to perfection. But the toast, the buttered toast, that accompanied my dish, was Amazing!!! I wanted to be sure it got credit.
Baby!!! When I tell you this place is IT, you better listen. All black staff which is wonderful, great food, great & fast service, calm atmosphere. First time coming here & I will definitely be back.
We ordered spicy chicken hash with greens and yams. Shrimp and grits. Stuffed french toast. The food was delicious! Everything was seasoned well. Thank you for a great meal Ms Vonda I will be back.
Ok here we go the Mac was sweet and dry they have a 4 piece wing on the app for 17 bucks I had a wing dinner and it was dry and over cooked I don’t know what’s going on because the rent for the store front is to high but to charge 25% gratuity for 5 or more people is crazy so ya get nothing extra and the food was boo boo
Great experience from a local black owned restaurant. I dined here today with my family and this place was lively and energetic. The service was good and the food was even better. The waitress recommended the turkey wings and it did not disappoint. We also had the whiten fish and BB CUE burger. The value and quality was worth the short wait. Keep up the good work.
