This Hotel blew my expectations away. As a guest and Hilton Employee, this Hotel truly made me feel at home and is on my list of the best Hotels I have ever stayed at. This Hotel hands down made me feel like they truly cared about making the guest feel special. I commend the staff on the hard work. Good Job.
The buildings and grounds are beautiful! The staff very friendly. Our room was clean and well stocked. The bed however was too soft and we had a hard time regulating the temperature in the room, it was too hot and I had to switch to a/c to get it comfortable or it held 76 degrees! You have to pay extra for breakfast if you got the buffet it wasn't that great. There was a restaurant for dinner but it was way over priced. Called the front desk to ask for toilet paper and never got it so I found the cleaning ladies the next day and got it from them.
*Terrible Experience at Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center*||||I regret my decision to stay at Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center, as it was nothing short of a nightmare. Upon arrival, my room was in a deplorable state with food remnants on the floor, signaling a complete disregard for cleanliness. This problem extended beyond my room, as the hallways were also strewn with trash and leftover food.||||The cleanliness issues did not end there. Under the bed, there was a thick layer of dust that seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The bathroom continued the trend with a scratched and dirty toilet. Even the elevator was filthy and outdated, contributing to an overall feeling of neglect.||||One of the most frustrating aspects of my stay was the lack of housekeeping. I left my room at 9 AM and returned at 4 PM, only to find that it hadn’t been cleaned. I had to search for a maid myself and then wait in my car for 30 minutes while they finally cleaned my room. ||||Additionally, the entire hotel, especially the hallways, reeked of marijuana throughout my stay, making for an extremely uncomfortable and unsettling environment. ||||Security was non-existent. I constantly felt uneasy due to the lack of visible security measures, which, combined with the strong odor in the hallways, made me question my safety.||||The dining area was just as disappointing, resembling a bleak, ugly cafeteria rather than a hotel dining room. It lacked any semblance of the quality or comfort one would expect from the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.||||This hotel stay was a huge letdown, and I would strongly advise others to consider alternative accommodations. The Virginia Crossings Hotel is in dire need of significant improvements in cleanliness, security, and overall management.
Pros: The Grounds are amazing and the front desk clerk was very nice and welcoming. The room was clean. ||Cons: It's a bit run down. The elevator is scary, old and dirty (had the same hairball on the floor the whole 3 days we were there). ||MAIN ISSUE: They did not honor the price that was given when I made my reservation. I have never had a hotel change the price of the room after the reservation was made. I was quoted one price when I confirmed my reservation (in Sept 2023) then noticed the first day of our stay (Jan 2024) that the total of the stay was almost $100.00 more. The price of the the room for each night went up. I tried to call the hotel to find out what was going on and they had no answers. They kept telling me it was always the higher price, but I have the email confirmation with the lower prices. When I sent it to them they couldn't explain it and that was it... not resolution. I had to pay the higher price. I couldn't find another hotel on short notice that was close to where we were visiting. I feel like they scammed me last minute knowing I couldn't just cancel the reservation. I won't ever stay here again, and I'm make sure to let all friends and family know not to as well.
The room is a failure for business travelers. I will use room 108 as an example.|What does business traveler need?|1) Reliable lighting.|2) A work station.|3) Access to electrical.|1) There are good lights over the night stand. But you can not move them so you can work on the bed. There is one floor lamp with a foot clicker that does work consistently so you have to unplug it from the wall at night. That is by the bed. The chair in the room is across the room from the light so if you want back lighting, you will have to move the chair and block your access to the side of one of the beds.|2) there is no work station. The coffee table is low, but but can work as function table but you will be slouching forward. Not good for your back. Moving the chair to the coffee table will block the walkway. The ottoman can be moved to coffee table but be careful about tripping on it. The best work station in the room is the chaire and ottoman combination, but you have no back lighting to help you review documents.|3) The electrical need a major overhaul and system check. The night stand has 4 plugs and 4 usb ports, but no power going to it. So to plug in a cpap machine we had to unplug the clock on the table and found a rats nest of cables that would not pass a building inspection. By the coffee table is an electrical outlet that is inaccessible since the table is bolted into the dresser. The rest of the electrical plugs are so far away from a flat surface that you will need to set up a charging station on the floor for your electronics or bring a 4 foot power strip. so you can set something up on a bureau.||IF you have a large convention be prepared for the lack of luggage carts. Also the Monroe building 1st floor access has a sign on the door to push button for automatic open, but they never bother to install the buttons for those of your patrons who are in wheel chairs. And the door is so heavy that I doubt it meets ADA requirements so that a person in a wheel chair can get out of the building without assistance. | |Housekeeping - They have an employee who needs proper training. While they did knock they did not announce themselves and just barged into the room not even waiting for us to ask who was knocking. How does this place keep its standing as a Hilton hotel?||The electrical problems can be fixed if maintenance actually surveys/updates the room and installs a $10 flat plug power strip behind the coffee table.
We stayed here in early March 2024. This place is very nice but also disappointing in some ways and not worth the price we paid.
If you have ANY mobility issues this place is not for you. Most rooms are in a different building that the one in which one must register. Further, the restaurant is in yet another building! When we were there it was drizzling rain and although some of the walkways were covered they were not all covered. Some rooms are in the main building however, the restaurant is in a different building.
Although this is a Hilton hotel the restaurant is not up to that standard in my view. For example, when I requested whipping cream on my Apple Crumble it came with some sort of edible oil product! when I asked the server for REAL whipping cream she advised that this was all they had. No self-respecting chef would serve an edible oil product in place of real whipping cream.
The staff were pleasant.
I did not stay at the hotel but I was a vendor at an event hosted here. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was so helpful. Multiple buildings with underground tunnels connecting them! They have a great breakfast buffet with bacon!
Absolutely one of the best places I have ever stayed the rooms were great and the beds were fantastic the views were spectacular and I loved the historic grounds look forward to staying with them again
