Excellent food! Sadly it was their last day. Owner decided to retire.
It's a small place but has great food, service and prices!! I had two pieces of French Toast, two eggs and two bacon strips (or sausage) for $7.55. My daughter had a breakfast burrito and potatoes for $10.00 and had enough left over for lunch. (The burrito was huge!) Being on Newport Ave. They're right in the midst of all the shops and other businesses. A lot of people just 'happen' by it while shopping and site seeing down the 'main' street of Ocean Beach. Look no further, Village Kitchen has good food, service and prices and a great location!
This place is a local favorite from what I have seen. Does not look like much from the outside but go in and taste the food from this family owned and run establishment. Always great staff, amazing food and the best breakfast burrito around, cooked to perfection every time. Take a friend and enjoy as one plate is enough food to share.
Our favorite breakfast place on Newport. The lobster omelet and breakfast burritos are our favorites. Never had lunch or dinner but they do have all you can eat early bird specials daily. Service is great. Pretty typical OB place.
We both loooved our breakfast! I couldn't believe how good my wet burritos was - covered in a homemade (her father's recipe) sauce. Family owned 30 yrs. Decor may not be the best or newest, but if you want an old school diner experience, this is it.
Great spot to eat breakfast in OB. It's in my top two favs for early Sunday morning breakfast although it gets busy during the weekends. I used to sneak over to this spot when I wasn't booked right away while working at a nearby spa. They are friendly and fairly priced and it's totally a cool little old school breakfast diner to take all our dads, grandparents and beyond for family breakfast or for a solo breakfast if you're alone.
Decor is not the best but service and waitresses personality make it very pleasant. Quality of there breakfasts are outstanding. Food as well as service has been outstanding each and everytime. It is a place that will still treat you like a special family member
I have no idea how this restaurant got its high rating. But I trusted it and took my family there for breakfast. I'm just going to tell you about my personal horrible experience and not those of my family members. To begin with my coffee cup had bright pink lipstick all over the rim. When I asked for a clean cup their waitress acted as if I were being ridiculous. When my huevos rancheros came the eggs that were ordered over-medium were actually cooked all the way through and had a solid yolk. The house potatoes had no seasoning and tasted like they had been cooked in oil that had been used to fry fish. The salsa tasted off as if it had turned. And every once in awhile a bite of my food tasted as if there was soap in it. The only good thing about my plate was the house made sauce for the huevos rancheros. The tortillas I had on the side also had a hair wrapped up in them. The only disappointing meal I had in OB.
