It’s a very nicely planned national park. It’s amazing to learn about American history and have a very good walk at the same time. 35 miles is its entirety, but I recommend not walking the whole thing. Running is welcome to the park trail, though I enjoy walking better. To get the whole experience, I recommend you walk during the sunset, as the view from the trail is gorgeous. If you have a hotel in the Schuylkill area, it’s a must to go to the park.
This park is one of remembrance and admiration. It is a place of natural beauty and perseverance. There are trails for walking and bicycling, as well as roads for vehicles. The buildings--including Washington's Headquarters--help convey the story of a fledgling nation, and the great sacrifices required for its future success.
General George Washington's leadership helped keep the nation on its course, and all Americans should partake of the park's opportunities with thankfulness. The Washington Memorial Chapel is beautiful and full of symbolism, both as a house of God and an edifice of honor to the men of the American Revolution.
I loved coming here for a walk. Me and my wife walked 5 miles and could’ve gone even farther if we wanted. I want to come back in the summer when everything is green again and full of life. The display stations are spread around at different spots on the walk and you can actually learn a good bit if you’re interested too!
Very good place walking and jogging. Lengthy trail around 5+ miles. Bid lawn are awesome. Valley view is very nice.
I visited Valley Forge after a weekend in Phoenixville and had a great time.
The visitor center and movie are a must-do part of the attraction to understand the historical significance.
The grounds are well maintained and provide excellent walking, jogging or biking opportunities. The paths form a two mile loop. And if you are tired, hung over, or otherwise mobility challenged- the entire park is driveable, you never need to leave your car! There is a free phone number that provides information about each area.
You can drive through the whole park in under 30 minutes. To see the movie, visitor center, and experience some of the important sites, I would recommend at least two hours. Add more time if you want to walk the trails.
The park is 100% free.
I would also recommend reading about Valley Forge before going. This is where Washington's army spent the winter- it's a tale of hardship and human perseverance. There were no battles fought here.
It was a sunny day without a single cloud in the sky. I did a little hike in Valley Forge Park. A little chilly at the beginning, then it became so warm and comfy. The winter scenery was tranquil with birds chirping now and then. Walking on the trail and bathing in the sunlight, it was so beautiful. I met a woman with three dogs. One dog was so eager to give all his love to me. ????Life was good and I need nothing more at that moment. So lucky to have this park close by.
Great place to visit and learn for all ages. Discover how this site is possibly the most important in the establishment of our country. Make sure to watch the film narrated by Laura Linney. I realize how little I knew. Trolley tour was very informative with great guide (prob not for kids)…. See the “huts” and George Washington’s winter home on the grounds…much more. Beautiful scenic grounds. Hard to visualize the suffering yet strength that went on there. Be sure to watch the movie first narrated by Laura Linney. I learned a lot I never knew.
Lovely grounds and the trails aren't bad but I really wasn't expecting how much of it is just flat and completely open fields. I was expecting more of a "park" style area/acreage, like the woods section. Finding that was also a bit hard, as there wasn't a ton of signage. But still had a nice time hiking for a little over an hour.
