The food was very good. The atmosphere was nice, the music relaxing and the place was very clean and ordered.
The only thing I would like is a little bit of more light in the darkest corner tables, but you can always switch if other spots are available.
I highly recommend that you avoid this place. The food is very sub par. I cannot tell you the last time that I had to spit out food, but one bite of a crab Rangoon and I about projectile vomited. None of their food items tasted like they should have, except the peppered chicken. The sushi was not good, and as I type this I feel as though I may become I'll. My stomach is in knots and cramping. Umami is not the global leader on my list of the worst places to eat. Yes, even worse than the now gone Five Star Buffet. The plates, silverware and drinking glasses were all gritty looking and feeling. For s place only two months old they need maintenance on their dishwasher, like last year. Please, heed my warning and avoid Umami!
Only 1 complaint!! My total was $13.98 with water.. The sign outside said, "$11.99 (with 6% tax my total SUPPOSED to be $12.71).. But I was charged $13.98.
I politely asked the cashier if the sign outside was incorrect, she said, "The sign is correct, but We add gratuity. "..
Other than that, I would recommend this place, just expect to pay more than BIG sign says..

Food was fresh. Staff were efficient. Price was as advertised. Hibachi grill was delicious. Incredible variety. Blue ribbon for baked crab and honey chicken.
This new hibachi buffet opened right in front of our regular hibachi buffet. We decided to give it a try, it was not great. The decor and seating was left over from the last restaurant which was a seafood restaurant. It was very dark at our booth, not easy to see what we were eating. The step up to the booth is very awkward and tight, hit and bruised my knee on the booth seat. Will not be back.
Had a great first experience! Food was hot and on point everything was delicious. Definitely a lot to choose from and well priced. We will be back.
Food was decent - great variety, but still just typical Chinese buffet food. Plates weren't very clean, and the server was eager enough to clear empty plates from the table to take my silverware off a plate that still had food on it and just lay the fork and spoon directly on the table.
Also, they stand and watch over customers like vultures waiting for an animal to take its last breath.
Long story short, Umami is off to an impressive start; they have a wide variety of delicious food, and they have the potential for a great future. If they address staff techniques and stop passing dirty plates off as clean plates, they can become a go-to destination.
Wife and I stopped by while we were in the area. They are located in the old golden corral dixie location. Food was good and the waitress was pleasant. Would recommend if your looking for a chinese buffet in the area.
