A Culinary Journey to South India at Udipi Cafe
Our experience at Udipi Cafe was nothing short of delightful. The idlis, served with chutney and sambhar, were soft and flavorful, transporting us to the streets of South India. The potato bonda brought back fond memories of Mumbai monsoons, with its crispy exterior and delicious filling.
The South Indian deluxe thali was a true feast for the senses. Each item, from the fragrant rice to the assortment of vegetarian delights like sambhar, dal, and kootu poriyal, was bursting with authentic flavors. The papad and payasam were the perfect accompaniments, adding an extra layer of indulgence to the meal.
The chole bhature was a highlight, with fluffy bhature and flavorful chole that left us craving for more. And the uttapam, garnished with tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, was a savory delight that we couldn't get enough of.
Overall, Udipi Cafe offers an authentic taste of South India with its diverse menu and impeccable flavors. We'll definitely be returning to savor more of their delicious offerings. Highly recommended for anyone craving a culinary journey to the heart of India!
Stopped for quick dinner, the food was fresh and good flavor. We ordered Rava dosa, veg Hakka noodles and veg uttapam. Everything was delicious and fresh.
This is the real deal if your looking for authentic Indian food. You will find no meat options here as it’s for Indians who are vegetarian it it doesn’t matter everything here is fresh and tastes fantastic.
Now if you’re not used to a place meant for an ethnic group the service will seem a tad harsh. This isn’t them being mean this is how Indians are when they are among mostly other Indians. It’s nothing against you this is the culture when it comes to dining.
In terms of the menu it’s vast and the prices are cheap and you get a lot for your money. I tend to go for more Southern Indian food and they have that well covered but if you favor Northern Indian they have you covered as well.
Fair warning to non-Indians you will experience spices and flavors you have not before and the first couple of bits you might not like, power through that and as you have more your pallet will adjust and the food starts to become amazing.
I have no clue how this place has so many good reviews. The food is BAD! Service was decent
Just india vibes❤️???? the ambience itself made me nostalgic ????
Food was good! Wada was kinda dry but idly and dosa were amazing! Tea here is just????
They had combos and many varieties in every dish. Decent price as well.
Best part is they have Gluten free dishes as well!
Would love to go back!
Vada sambhar is great in taste. Do not miss the mouth freshener at the exit of the restaurant, it is too good to miss the refreshment at the end. I love dining at all vegetarian places and this is surely a must try while visiting Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Pittsburgh.
One of the most authentic tasting South Indian fare in an ordinary restaurant setting. Don’t judge the place by the looks, the food and service is awesome! And they are open on Christmas Day!
Awesome food. They use high quality ingredients and the cooking style is authentic to southern India. We loved all the dishes that we ordered. The idlis and the dosas were very nicely made. The chutney and the sambar were great accompaniments. The filter coffee was yummy. A great after temple food destination. Highly recommend !
