Best KPortal Reviews

This was hands down the best dinner we have had in Chicago. The food was unbelievable and the atmosphere truly transports you back in time. Our waiter was absolutely incredible- Zachary/Zach made our dinner so wonderful and special. It was my husbands birthday, and he truly just showed us kindness and attentiveness. We loved him!! Such a lovely person!!! We will definitely be back :) The burger, salmon ceasar salad, and sticky date cake are what dreams are made of! They have an AMAZING spirit free menu- I was so impressed!!
First of all, let’s start with the fried chicken. Incredible. If you don’t get it, you are doing it wrong. That and the date cake. Everything else is also phenomenal but those are the two things that you cannot miss. Notice: no photos of those. It’s because when they came out, we went for it immediately. That good. Cannot stress those two items enough.
absolutely fantastic start to finish! my husband and i were celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary and this place treated us so well. first, we showed up with no reservation, and were offered a seat in the lobster bar immediately or wait an hour for a table in the main dining area. we tried sitting in the lobster bar but immediately regretted the decision and wanted to wait for a table. the hostess was incredibly nice and switched us with no complaints. when we showed up for our new reservation we were sat quickly, and the service throughout the entire night was efficient and kind. they put our orders in fast, were helpful with suggestions, and all in all it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. we ordered oysters, lobster mac and cheese, baby artichoke dip with chips, the steak frites, shrimp scampi, the wedge salad, and a sticky date cake. we had to physically stop ourselves from finishing the plates because everything was so fresh, balanced, and delicious! i’m still full tomorrow. would highly recommend anyone looking for a really nice night!
What a great place for dinner! Everything we ordered was amazing and the service was THE BEST. So attentive for the entire meal. I haven’t been to a restaurant in Chicago in a long time where the entire staff (including the hostess) are all equally wonderful!
Easily the best meal I’ve ever had in Chicago! The vibes are immaculate, so moody, warm and inviting. The service, food and drinks were out of this world which is expected when it comes to Hogsalt restaurants, they just don’t miss.
Come for a date or with friends and eat and drink your way through the menu, there isn’t a bad item. Highly recommend the crab Rangoons, lamb chops and scallop potatoes, along with the Vodka Rigatoni. If you’re a bourbon drinker, the Gold Rush is a must.
This is a wonderful and unique experience. Four of us dined on a Saturday evening and the place was packed out. Reservations are a must.
Drinks were really good although I ordered the rum Old Fashioned and it was mediocre. Can’t stand OF that use a cup of ice cubes instead of a single large cube. As the ice melted I had a watery, bad drink. Others ordered the Black Manhattan and Bees Knees which were excellent.
For dinner we ordered a couple salmon meals, the coal fired chicken and a steak. I had the chicken and it was spectacular.
The side dish of mushroom was a hit.
Service was attention and well timed.
The one knock. Turn down the music in the dining area. We could barely hear the waiter and struggled to hear each other talk. In hind site we should have addressed this with our waiter.
Overall this is a wonderful experience!
The allure of this place is most definitely in its atmosphere. Rustic, charming, and electric, it's tough to have a bad time here. The food and drinks don't match the price in my opinion, but the energy in the room makes it worth it. Great for a date night, incredible for a group of friends.
Unbelievably lovely, warm, and inviting restaurant decked out for the holidays and appears made for it. Bartender Andrew is wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff is equally welcoming. The food is incredible. We loved our dishes which spanned the menu a bit - lobster Mac, pork chop, rigatoni vodka, chicken sliders, and pigs in a blanket. All exquisite. Can’t wait to come back.
