I expected so much more from this place. My first experience here will unfortunately be my last until I see some changes. The first person I interacted with was an older lady, Malika. She was VERY rude. For someone to be the first point of interaction/first face to represent your business, she lacks the qualities to do so. When I came to pickup my food I seen her interacting with a gentleman and she was nice with him so I’m not sure what that was about. My order came up to a little over $50.
I order the twangy wings with yams and Mac & cheese. The yams were VERY sugary I almost didn’t taste any cinnamon or nutmeg. Big portion 2/10 The wings were crispy and the sauce didn’t have a distinct taste so 6/10. The Mac and cheese was good 9/10. Cornbread was dry however I may have caught them on a bad day. For dessert I had the Cookie Monster pudding, it was okay. All in all this business has the crowd but will they keep it with this quality of customer service? Not sure.
The food is delicious and never wavers. Customer service is wonderful. There is a bit of a wait at times, so I encourage you to have patience because the food is worth the wait, it comes out fresh and hot. Not a lot is sitting space but the atmosphere is a vibe.
I’m not one to write reviews but the customer service that I experienced was so good that I just had to! I’ve been meaning to visit this place for a while after finding her Instagram through a mutual friend. But the cornbread dressing video is what finally pushed me to come. They were sold out when I came because it was later in the day but I was lucky enough to get one of the last orders of turkey wings. The owner was very sweet and easy to talk to and you could just tell that she genuinely cares about the people that come to visit. Everything was full of flavor, the rice and the wings were very well seasoned and juicy. The mac and cheese was perfect and so were the collard greens. I also got a side of banana pudding that was amazing! I will definitely be back with some friends!
They do not take orders over the phone. From that point I shouldn’t even wasted 30+ mins waiting on this food but nope I was patient even with the cashiers rude attitude even after I tried to joke with her & enlighten her day she was still rude. & I’ve seen reviews about her but I’m thinking to myself this couldn’t be true. The floor was sticky, they didn’t have the pudding I wanted. Food portion was ok. The pricing a bit ridiculous including a service fee. Waited in my car due to the crowd. My first and last time to this establishment though the manager was a doll beautiful inside and out and the other staff was so pleasant. I was on my way to work so they tried the best to get me out just took too long for my liking. Wish them success!!!
I have to say that this place was excellent. At first I thought to myself that my bill was a little hefty for wings and sides, however the portion was shareable. The food was very tasty not over or under seasoned. The restaurant was clean and very organized. And the young ladies that were working were very pleasant and professional. If you’re in the mood for soul food . This is a great spot
I would like to start by saying, "I am not a individual who goes around to critique restaurants". This part is directly to the owner! Let's start, the service was okay, the young lady was not as attentive as she should have been when taking orders but that's not important maybe because the music was a bit too much. My opinion, just because we are all of African American culture WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME! THE FOOD, PER THE OWNER ARROGANCE, IT WAS NOT ALL THAT! The yellow rice was beyond DRY, the turkey wings was tasteless, macaroni and cheese lacked salt, but the collard greens was good. The 10 dollar banana pudding, will not bother to rate, The chicken wings although bigger than normal was good. The rainbow cake also dry or to dense. I spent $80.00 for 2 and including 2 hour travel for mediocre service. I did ensure the owner, I would leave a review and I understood the assignment. I enjoy spending my hard earned money PROMOTING BLACK OWNED BUSINESS but when ARROGANCE gets in the way, I will never go back or recommend. The owner asked for my opinion and I am delivering as PROMISED. FYI: CULTURE DIVERSITY TRAINING WORKS!
Good soul food is hard to come by. I ate hear last weekend and the food was delicious I had sweet and spicy wings Mac n cheese and string beans because they were out of collard greens I was a bit too late! The wait was a bit long about 25-30 minutes but for fresh cooked food why wouldn’t you wait. The staff were friendly and helped me decide as it was my first time. They even gave me advice on the best times and days to order what I like! I will be going back. Wings were fried to perfection! I hate hard dry wings so they definitely were on point!
I drove an hour or so just for these turkey wings and I do not regret at all!!! The portion size is HUGE and the amount flavor is COLOSSAL! I recommend this place to anyone in search of true affordable soul food! Customer Service was great and the wait time was reasonable seeming the food being cooked to order. I love this place! Definitely try the sweet potato cornbread if they have it!!
