We came here for dinner, risked it without a reservation, and were really impressed! We’d not long got off a long-haul flight so we were slight out of it but the service was quick (waiters not overly chatty) and the food that was served was tasty! The portion sizes were large too!
We went for meatballs, chicken parmigiana and broccoli! The meatballs were a little cool when they came out, but this was not a problem for the staff, they whipped them away and served us a fresh portion within minutes. Then we couldn’t resist some gelato, and were not disappointed as the pistachio was delicious!
Our only criticism was the staff didn’t seem that chatty, maybe there was a language barrier? But we would absolutely return to this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent Italian!
This is an easy 5 star. This place feels like it has rightfully been around since 1919. It feels like you are time traveling with a plate of excellent food in front of you. Great place to spark conversation and curiosity about the precious guests who have enjoyed these same walls. We tried everything and it was all very good. The staff was also very friendly. This is a MUST if you’re visiting or a local.
We strolled in on a Friday evening after a strong recommendation from a local. We were greeted by the hostess and proceeded to sit at the bar for some drinks and snacks. Heidi promptly served us and the food was so delicious. 5 stars to the whole staff and to our friend who recommended Tosca Cafe. Don’t pass this place up; it’s a hip and a skip away from some great bars and the food’s unmatched.
Transport yourself to the heart of Italy at this charming traditional restaurant, where the ambiance is as rich as the flavors of the food. With its old-world aesthetic vibe, complete with rustic décor and warm lighting, dining here feels like stepping into a time-honored trattoria. The menu offers a tantalizing selection of authentic Italian dishes, from hearty pastas to succulent meats, each bursting with flavor and prepared with care.
While the food and service both earn a solid four out of five, the overall experience is nothing short of delicious. The attentive staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that every aspect of your meal is enjoyable. Whether you're savoring a classic plate of spaghetti carbonara or indulging in a decadent tiramisu for dessert, every bite is a reminder of Italy's culinary prowess.
While there may be minor hiccups in service or slight imperfections in the dishes, the overall charm and deliciousness of this traditional Italian restaurant make it a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of Italy in a cozy, old-world setting.
We booked the “Chefs Lounge” private dining experience via the Tock app and it was a very unique, delicious night.
They take you through the kitchen, up a set the back stairs to a dark hidden room above the dining area — apparently it used to be a poker room and then an office, now you can book it for parties up to 10.
We were served family style and everything was perfectly prepared. The service was excellent!
This was our personalized menu:
Prosecco
Caviar
Oysters
House-Made Focaccia
Burrata Salad
Meatballs
Truffle Gnocchi
Pan Seared Salmon
Tuscan Fried Chicken
Crispy Potatoes
Spinach
Chocolate Budino & Olive Oil Cake
Highly recommend if your looking for something different in SF.
The waiting staff was wonderful and the food was delicious! They were able to accommodate my food allergies to gluten, eggs, dairy, and peanuts easily and without fuss. They had gluten free and vegan pasta and the chef whipped up some pasta with red sauce for me. I also had the olive appetizer and lemon sorbet, which were both delicious. Although nothing on the menu is marked for food allergies and the hostess had no idea what an allergen menu was, I’m glad I took the chance because it was the best meal I’ve had in SF! Also, all of the cocktails we had at the table were tasty!
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with incredible history. The food is to die for!
We ate at the bar on a Saturday evening at 7pm as we did not have a reservation and fully booked. They charge a 10% extra because employees have health insurance. Restaurant part quite loud so we were pleased eating at the bar. Portion not big.
