Best KPortal Reviews
So, they only had one dish that was vegetarian or vegan as I recall, the cauliflower Torte. The portion was alright, and it was at airport prices.
But, it was a pleasant surprise and probably one of the more interesting airport meals that I've had.
Not spectacular, the cauliflower was a little under cooked, but solid. The sauce definitely made it.
It's one of the better restaurants in ORD. The food was crafted by a celebrity chef Rick Bayless. The chipotle chicken torta and chicken tortilla soup are some of the best I've tried. The service was also fantastic, I'll definitely be coming back.
Terminal 3 - Service took 15 min not too bad I guess but the food? Even though tasty and rip off with barely any eggs inside. I don’t there was not even a quarter of eggs in my sandwich.
My plane was stuck on the tarmac at 5am so I googled bear food at Chicago O'Hare and all websites pointed to Tortas Frontera. I confirmed via a Reddit thread that the cauliflower sandwich is vegan without cheese. I also read that you should order online on your phone in advance. I ordered as I got off my plane in terminal 1 - c gates. It said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I took the infamous light up tunnel to terminal 1 - b gates, and only had to wait a few minutes for them to call my name and "online order." It's by gate B11 and a McDonald's.
I had added a note to my order that said "no cheese - vegan please!" I think they may have also removed the beans. It was cauliflower, some other grilled veggies, and avocado, with some green tomatillo salsa on the side.
Delicious! I would order it again when I have a layover in Chicago. For an airport, pretty cheap for the portion size.
This place had been ranked as one of the best airport restaurants anywhere, with fresh ingredients and high-quality cooking,
so I was pretty excited to try it out at O'Hare airport
I got the Cubano sandwich - which seemed to be the most popular option
the individual ingredients of this sandwich were all fantastic
I thought that the bread was really good - it was really soft and fluffy on the inside - some of the best sandwich i've had
the guacamole was a massive standout here - it really dominated the flavor profile and there was a lot of it. this tasted fantastic
the dipping salsa was also pretty flavorful
on the downsides, I do think that the sandwich really did taste mostly like guac
there really wasn't that much of any other ingredient on there - a very thin slice of pork, a couple pieces of not-crunchy bacon, and a bit of mustard but nothing noticeable
it just felt like an avocado sandwich - nothing more
when i was able to taste the pork i found that it was good - maybe a bit chewy
unforuntately, this didn't quite live up to the high expectations for me
as far as the price, it's not the worst for airport food - around 17 dollars - but for how little was in the sandwich it probably shouldn't cost that much
Overall, a fine sandwich, but overhyped. 7.5/10
I went in thinking I would get the Chipotle Chicken, but at the last minute was tempted by the ham and thick-sliced bacon on the Torta Cuban. So I went with that, and it was awesome. The Torta was crispy on the outside, and the sandwich had a great balance of meat, avocado, and cheese. With salsa on the side for dipping, this made for a fantastic layover.
Very tasty food (unexpectedly good for ORD). Fresh ingredients abound. Limited seating but there is space along the opposite wall in the terminal.
Be prepared to wait if it’s busy. My torta took nearly 30 minutes to make.
Incredible service and food at a reasonable rate!
The bread of the torta was a perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the meat was excellently seasoned and very tender, the sauce chipotle sauce was to die for, and even the arugula added a wonderful supplementary flavor. As for the price, you really can’t beat ~$15 for this quality (or quantity—it’s not a tiny sandwich) anywhere in the airport. I’ll definitely be back any time I’m in O’Hare!
