Very disappointed after having been recommended to us by a friend. Food was nice (nothing special) but very little of it for what it cost. Not expensive, but I was still hungry after the meal - portions are tiny.. Service was terrible - cold and completely avoid us as much as possible despite there being very few other guests.
Fantastic food, lovely service and such a beautiful building! Really impressed with the vegan/veggie options too.
Order the apple acorn cake, it's amazing!
Dropped in here for drinks, didn't eat, its more of a foodie place but that said it had a superb choice of beers and wines, the cocktails were superb, its a bit more upmarket than most places in Bedale so you will need slightly deeper pockets but the quality and choice I think justify this, the staff were great and knew their stuff. Well worth checking out.
Simply amazing, went with friends a couple of days ago and thought the whole experience was beautiful. Warmly welcomed and seated in a very tasteful area upstairs, the lighting decor and open ceilings really compliment the character of the building.
The menu had a great variation with interesting takes on some classic pies too. I opted for the rabbit and black pudding suet pudding with buttered greens, quite a next level indulgence with so much flavour I highly recommend it. Desert again they excelled with a Black Forest Baked Alaska to which was presented so well it was a shame to break into it. We all enjoyed everything we had over a few hours we were they and very well served and never rushed, can't wait to return.
Lovely setting and staff but the food was not up to expectations. Would I go back? No.
Lovely place, nice staff food was very good. Not to expensive but not cheap either. We had Sunday lunch like I say enjoyed the food paid a bit more then normal but I don't mind when it's good. Just wish the family could have ordered from the weekday menu too. But thanks for a lovely meal and we hope to return in the week next time.
Superb food, good atmosphere and great service. Nothing was too much trouble for the smiling friendly staff and they even super-chilled our bottled lager for us in the freezer. We will definitely be returning.
Held a surprise 50th there for my partner, they placed us in a gorgeous upstairs room with beams and lots of character. Food order done in advance as there were a few of us and it all worked perfectly. All the guests were very pleased with their choices and no food envy at all. Great cocktails and wine choice too.
