Fast and very efficient whilst not compromising on hot quality food. Very generous portions. Will defferntly have to pop in again when in Tavistock.
What can I say... I had a rough day today... One of those proper flustercuck days when the universe is all dead arms and wedgies and out for your lunch money... However thanks to a spontaneous and I suspect not uncommon act of purest goodwill from the hard working staff and TJ's & LJ's fish and chip shop, I may yet go to bed with a smile and a belly full of tasty chips... Top marks, trust me folks businesses like this should be rewarded and you belly will thank me...
As proud northerners, originating from Grimsby, we hold fish and chips in high regard! This chippy was amazing, chips were almost like mini croquettes and were absolutely lovely. Would thoroughly recommend!
It is not often you find a chip shop, that has very nice chips, the batter has to be one of the best I've had, the staff are all friendly, and for a busy chip shop, the service is very efficient.
There are 6 chip shops within half a mile of my house, but the wife and myself, on a Friday night, would rather travel 14 miles, for a meal we know, we will enjoy.
Called in here for fish n chips whilst we watched the Tavistock Christmas light switch on.
They were extremely busy as you would expect however the staff had a great system set up which meant service was fast and efficient.
The chips were really good quality, I also had a plain sausage and fish cake which were also really good.
They do take orders by phone as well and party orders can be delivered. The menu is extensive, there is limited indoor seating as well.
Had a fish and chip meal here it was very busy the locals seemed to like what they were getting,to me personally I have had a lot better as the chips were over cooked probably re fried from an earlier fry up,having said that I was hungry and ate the lot but these weren’t the lovely golden brown chips that I am used to having,the cup of tea was nice though.
Excellent fish and chips. The chap with the ponytail is the best fryer in Tavistock. Often when walking home from work I get a cone of chips. Crisp on the outside and soft inside. The payment process can be a bit erratic. Used to use Tavistock Times newspaper which was a great way to catch up on the local news too!
Tasty, fresh cooked food. Lovely cod, chips are tasty. Friendly staff too.
