we met there for a family event. We had a family meet up call meet the cousins. we had a very good time and we had great service in a private room. There were about 25-30 of us. be prepared to spend money, though it is a little pricey. However, I think it was worth it. Our waiter for our table was Alex.
Timbuktu is back! Many people told me that Timbuktu wasn’t “as good as it used to be.” I’m here to tell those people to return because it was excellent!
My friend said that the French Onion soup was the best that she’s had (except for when she makes it ????).
The cream of crab soup never disappoints. It was delicious as usual.
The seafood Alfredo needed a little Old Bay but isn’t everything better with a little Old Bay? ????
The stuffed shrimp is the best combination on the menu! Three large shrimp with a crab cake on top. Absolutely wonderful!
By the time I finished the soup and salad, I was pretty full. Good service, good quality seafood and large portions.
I’m definitely coming back!
I have always loved this place. I have been coming here for years. The food is great. The service is great. The atmosphere is just ok. They definitely need to update some things. On this last visit, I was seated in a room nearest a partition wall that was slightly opened. There were no windows or anything to buffer the sounds that were bouncing from wall to wall. Apparently, it was the area to place families with children as there were many there. . . and then there was my guest and I. . . No children. Perhaps they could have seated us a bit better. Otherwise, food and service are still wonderful. When the three parties with children of left and the other two parties (mine included) remained, it was perfect.
I usually go to another place for crabcakes. But this is definitely my new place! Food was delicious from crab chowder to the crab cakes. Server was friendly and very accommodating! There is a reason they have been around since 1948. Highly recommend and definitely returning when back in the area!
I was disappointed in my past couple of trips to Timbuktu. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants when I traveled to the Baltimore area. It seems the quality and service has continued to diminish after Covid. The prices have increased and the menu has changed slightly. Upon arrival, we waited a few minutes to be taken to our table. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. They were severely understaffed. Our waiter, Charles was very pleasant and did his best. They had system issues which was out of their control but our food was just alright. I hope they start to focus on improving their service.
Loved our Christmas Eve meal here before heading to church for service. We made a reservation 3 days ahead of time and were accommodated on time when we arrived. The food is so delicious, and they have the best crab cakes in the area, in my opinion. Thank you for a great meal and great memories.
03/10/2024- My friend and I went to Timbuktu to have dinner. This Sunday, the temps were freezing and the winds were blustery! This was actually my first visit! We were seated in a quiet area but my friend asked to be seated in the dining area to the right of the restaurant. Well, this side is for large group seating and everyone on this side was loud and fun! If you are looking cozy, and quiet, don’t sit on this side!!!???? We ordered predominately seafood entrees! Bon Appetite!!! Large portions of food! We literally are just five bites into the food ( Lobster Tail, Crab Cake, Salmon, Scallops, salad, whipped potatoes, butter buns, water with lime, ginger-ale) and now we are both asking for take-out containers!!!????????????Loved this new experience! Got to pack it up! I am full!!!!
My friends took me here for my birthday. What a treat! It's been a long time since I was last here. This place has huge portions. I ordered the "Jewels of the sea" meal. A lobster tail, four large shrimp, 4 large scallops, a 6 ounce crab cake, and 2 sides. It can feed 2 people. Our waitress Becky was attentive and charming. You can't go wrong with this place.
