Under new management and they are doing a great job in these circumstances of financial hardship people are going through.
A lot has changed at the Royal Standard since Darryl and Julie took over and all for the good. The interior has been vastly improved with comfortable seating all round. The beer garden is great for those long warm evenings that we sometimes get !!. This is a proper `local` pub with a local feel and you will always get a very warm welcome. Great local ales for those of you who like the real stuff always changing with new ones every week. If you fancy a bite to eat there are some great meals available on the ever changing menu as well as `proper` Sunday roasts prepared by Julie who was recently awarded a 5 star rating for food hygiene.
Whatever you want in the summer or the winter you will always get a warm welcome and there is regular entertainment every weekend with local bands, entertainer`s and karaoke.
All in all a great local.
We went to the Standard on Wednesday, first time after lockdown relaxation. It was very well organised, we sat in the beer garden - I didn't realise it had one! Nice pint of Lacons Legacy - first pint out since last August, it tasted lovely!

The Royal Standard is a beautiful pub I've been going there ever since I was a child (with my mum/dad before 18) and even after my 18th I've still been going there quiet often.
The staff are kind, the prices aren't bad and it's an amazing enviroment where everyone just seems to get along.
Great little pub, excellent food, probably the best in town including their breakfast. Loved it!
We played this years Dereham Blues Festival.
Its refreshing to have a landlord that invites live entertainment and was a really great host to the band :) Hope to see you guys again soon.
