I've been going to the riverside for over 20 years, under a number of different owners and it has always been a cracking wee pub. For now, (January 2023) the staff are friendly and well natured. The clientele seems decent and there is pretty much no bother caused by anyone. The restaurant is closed for the moment, but is a great place to get some food and I've heard it will be open again soon.
Definitely recommended if you are in the area, best pub in Newmilns by far.
Did not have any meals, had a few black stouts, would recommend

Considering this place is situated in a small village, with few resources and I’ve lived here for a while, I’m a relative stranger to the Riverside.
However, I visited with a couple of friends for a quiet drink the other night and received a lovely warm welcome.
It was quiet, but the service was excellent and the jukebox kept the atmosphere pleasant without being too rowdy.
I know that depending on the night, you can hear live bands and karaoke.
I’m planning on returning based on my experience the other night so I guess thats the highest compliment I can make.
So don’t be shy. Go in and say hello.

Lovely little pub good atmosphere friendly staff it was my first visit to this place and will be going back next am up in Scotland
Would recommend for a meal menu wasn't massive but everyone in our party enjoyed their meal so it seems what is on offer is cooked to a high standard also nice beer garden for those few sunny days a year in Ayrshire

What's happened???‼️ We've been before and it's been ok.
Went here for lunch today.
1 persons sauce in macaroni had split... inedible ‼️
2nd persons meat in steak pie hard as rocks, again inedible ‼️
3rd persons scampi dry.
4th persons fish & chips... (fish nice)
Everyone's chips were cold and hard‼️
1 dessert ...sticky toffy pud was hard in the middle. Again inedible ‼️
2nd dessert choc fudge cake was fine
Coffee tasteless.‼️
Yes we were only charged for 2 meals and one dessert so was grateful for that
BUT we went to enjoy a family meal out not to be thoroughly disappointed and not be charged for something that we couldn't eat ‼️
TOTALLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ‼️
