Great atmosphere, good food, well priced. Change in ownership and decor is a delight.. Good venue for a relaxed meal watching the river at work. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Always a pleasure to see the Restaurant full with returning patrons, which was never the case under the previous ownership.
Robin Collindales review is total rubbish and slanderous.
He cannot be traced.. must be the opposition...as they say.. if you cannot beat them .. slander them.
Riversides full menu is always freshly cooked to order and now served in a clean refreshed restaurant and bar. The company has spent £30,000 on the well needed refurbishment and work commences soon on the outside decking area ready for the summer.
The menu is designed for everyone... not the few, the food is edible, the staff are polite and there is always a warm welcome... what more do you want.
Our first visit since Riverside took on its new owners, new look & new menu. Very impressed menu offers a good range of food. Not over priced. Lava stone steaks are lovely & you can't complain about how they are cooked! The burgers & pizzas don't appeal to me particularly but they seem popular. Staff are lovely especially Sainey for whom nothing is too much trouble. We will be back soon.
Amazing views up towards Ipswich and the Orwell bridge. Food was decent enough and good service. My only complaint is, it was so cold. We ended up eating quickly so we could get in the car and warm ourselves up.
Arrived at 11am for coffee to find it did not open until 12 - it was BH Sunday the hottest day and nowhere to get a drink even water. What a stunning view but oh dear the terrace was dirty, tables not cleaned off from the night before and dirty glasses piled up on one table not taken in and cleaned from last night. Several people arrived who were all dismayed it was closed. We were meeting friends and when they arrived it was still not open. When it did open there was no enthusiasm, tables were not cleaned off and open two sun parasols put out. We were surprised that the food was OK but only the usual all served with chips. Crab salad and prawns would have been nice. Presentation has a lot to do with catering in this day and age and this place has none which is a shame as you couldn't wish for a better view.
Where do I start this review of Riverside? Perhaps commenting on the redecoration that is reminiscent of an 80s style Beefeater, or no longer having the sofas next to the fireplace thereby ruining the ambiance or, for those who have never seen a Burger or Pizza, the menu straight out of a fast food joint complete with obligatory pictures of food?
It really doesn't matter where I start as the change of ownership has destroyed the progress made over the last few years. The new Riverside doesn't offer any culinary delights fit of its location. My Wife and I were served low quality reheated food that is no better than a low cost shop bought ready meal. Overhearing a member of staff speaking to another customer confirmed that most of the menu isn't homemade food but rather premade meals reheated on premise.
So disappointed.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, amazing service, nice variety of drinks AMAZING VIEW. Would very highly recommend. Don't miss out on this superior amazing restaurant. If you haven't been you haven't lived.

Viisited 0nce again our favourite Marine/River Resaurant.
After so many years it was upsetting to see the downturn in what was a lovely site.
We arrived to find around 10 people waiting outside all commenting on why the restaurant was still closed
The tables outside weree filthy with drink stains, dirt and glasses from the previous evening(?) We had to clean a table with tissues before we sat down.
On opening at 1200pm I mentioned the fact that people had been waiting for sometime for the staff to comment in a rude fashion "we open at 1200pm" I commented on the fact that for a Bank Holiday Weekend and sunny weather they must be missing businees only to have two staff reply together with " we open at 1200pm.
The staff (apart from the chef who appeared for a short visit) at the bar were all dress down and scruffy, the female delivering food order was totally dirty and a disgrace.
Two our our party ordered Lagers only to find they were flat with not a bubble in sight - glass problems?
The food was hot but two ladies commented that the Fish & Chips were rather greasy
