Me and my partner are moving to the area soon so decided to pop in and try out The Prior. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, and the atmosphere was immediately welcoming.
We had a starter, main, and two drinks each while we were there, and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Our first impressions were excellent, and we’re excited for this to be our local!
Lovely place for a drink and for meeting new people. The Sunday quiz is entertaining with a great host. And the owner is really welcoming.
looking really smart and family friendly inside, staff were very efficient and friendly, good was really nice, well worth it ???????????? good job! ???? We had the small plates for £15, crispy beef was sooo yummy!!! They also do a really nice chicken gravy that goes well with their chunky chips! Random choice would be chicken and veg skewers that's actually an enormous meal!
Had a Sunday lunch here for the first time my god it was so tasty.the veg was perfectly cooked meat was lush and the gravy I think it was bone marrow or similar just lovely highly recommend this place
Been 35yrs since last in the pub. Very impressed with the set up just had a drink with company and it was very comfortable feel I usually buy the same drink everywhere and it was a little more expensive but not bad.
Food was poor quality and microwaved, cheesy garlic was pre sliced garlic bread with a cheese slice on top then microwaved = soggy cheesy garlic bread! Chips were home made but chewy and not crispy. The grease on the plate was a dark brown colour and looked like the oil in the deep fat dryer hasn't been changed in decades, the peas looked loads of different colours too which was odd (see pics) ... Asked to change chicken on the mixed grill to something else or gammon and the woman who was in the kitchen said, 'it comes as it it and can't be changed!' And I'm not giving you a full gammon! (miserable git).. My partner got the 'prior burger' and said it was tasteless... Definatly wouldn't eat food from there again, such a shame as it's a nice pub and the quiz on a sunday night is fun! The woman behind the bar taking the orders and serving the drinks was lovely tho (only been working there a week) , that's the only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1
We try and visit as much as possible as we only live at pottershill and love the pub.
Great staff, good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Everyone is always friendly and entertainment on the evening we visited. Keep up the hard work.
Nice environment. Decent service. Good range of beers.
Food was only slightly above average although portions weren't bad. I chose ale pie, chips and mushy peas. All OK but although the pie was tasty the meat was like mush and not chunks of beef.
Would I return? Probably for a drink. Food wise I'd give it a second go but try something different from the menu.
